Koni Orange vs. OEM V6 Shocks
Hi All,
First, there seems to be a lot of variance when it comes to the mileage for replacing shocks. Most resources online are also trying to sell shocks, so its hard to know how realistic they are being. When are you guys replacing your shocks? Secondly, for those who have some experience. Would the Koni Orange shocks be a big improvement over buying another set of OEM shocks? I have the v6 camaro btw Thanks Guys!

Also, I don't auto-cross or go to the track. I occasionally enjoy spirited drives through the canyon, but that is about it.

OEM struts are cheaper and the Koni will make the ride a bit stiffer, so if you don't track/autocross you might be better off sticking with new OEM parts.

Remember Shocks & Struts don't last forever - a lot of that depends on the quality of the Shock & how you drive. A General Rule would be 50,000 - 60,000 Miles, but I have seen Cheap Shocks go bad in a month

@BMR - How would you compare the OEM shocks on a v6 to the Koni Orange shocks?

I'm not sure I can recommend Koni oranges at this point, my brother and myself both have issues with clearance now. There is some slight difference between Koni oranges and OEM struts. The issue is with clearance to the spring perch, not the tube.
At this point, I would just go with OEM, because there really isn't anything else out there right now until Koni figures out what they did wrong.

What kind of clearance issues are you having? I m seriously considering koni oranges

Yep, check it out, probably ok if you're running 245s up front, but otherwise you'll need to be careful. Even my 245s started rubbing the rubber nipple from the spring isolator though. If that was it I wouldn't be very concerned.

I would recommend going to FE4 SS Struts all around or getting 1LE Struts all around with lowering springs. I have FE4 SS Struts with Hotchkis Lowering Springs all around. The ride is a little more firmer on the streets, but will handle the ride through the mountain canyons.
