Hi there,

First up - an apology. I bought a Camaro two weeks and whilst I've been browsing the forums, I have only now got round to posting. Pic attached, though I may have to fiddle around if it doesn't appear in the post.

My name is Rob, I'm 32 and from the West Midlands. I have a new 14 plate Camaro LT RS with 500 miles on the clock. It's the first left hand drive and first automatic I have ever owned, and I love it. In fact, it's the first decent car I have ever had as up to now I have been concentrating on paying off the mortage. My dream car was in fact a Mustang, but after test driving both, I felt the Camaro was the superior car.

It took me about a week to drive the car without being nervous and am pleased to say I have now started parking it in public places! It's a very odd feeling, but at least now I am enjoying the car and not worrying about it.

I have seen a couple of posts about installing sat nav in the UK at a cost of around £1,000. I see from the owners handbook that the radio aerial is in the rear screen and I therefore assume the stubby roof aerial is for GPS. If this is correct and the vehicle is already GPS ready, then surely it can't be that difficult to install sat nav?

Just one more enquiry of you experienced UK owners if you would be so kind. How easy is it to get tyres when you need them? I have the 20 inch RS rims and just want to be prepared. Do you normally have to order them in?

Cheers guys. Look forward to chatting.

Rob

Welcome Rob, lovely looking car mate! I've not long had mine either and live 10 miles from Birmingham. Where abouts in the West Mids? PM me if you like. Should be pretty easy getting tyres for it, most places are next day delivery. If you're thinking about getting a spare wheel/tyre, speak to Ed on here (Yellow 1) as I know he recently bought a spare for his SS. Did you import it yourself?

Sorry, I've just seen it says Sutton Coldfield in your location, so you're only 15 miles away from me!

If you fancy it, I go to a couple of the monthly american car meet up's near Dudley, they are normally the first and second week of each month.

Other than that if you fancy a blast one of the nights, let me know and we can swap stories and share Camaro adoration, lol.

Hey Rob, welcome to Perma-grin world! Yet another sharp-looking Gen5. I'm about 40 mins south of you off J12/M40 - Look forward to meeting you (and yer baby) at a future meet-up for some craic & tyre-kicking. Cheers, Ed.

Welcome. Hope to see you at the summer meet - redleader will no doubt post the links in this thread although you may have already found them.

Shouldn't worry about tyres, they're easy to get - I'm on 20,000 with the original fronts and have only just replaced the rears despite them getting some serious use at times.
