Either way, my ZL1 would be covered under the warranty--as long as the mod wasn't the actual problem.

That was refreshing to hear the service manager say that. I could tell he is a car guy and wanted to put me at ease. He manages the Chevy store and the Cadillac store across the street, so the guy is pretty busy and is responsible for a two large shops. However, not wanting to test his statement, I went ahead and decided to get it replaced.

I got the car back today and so far, so good. I drove it about 75 miles after I picked it up and I really opened it up a couple of times. Everything is tight and right. The car definitely feels better and so far it isn't making the "new" noise.

Anyway, I just wanted to share my experience with the Forum. Nothing new here, really. I'll keep my eye on it for a couple more weeks and then the mods begin.

Glad you got your car back and are happy again. I would ask the "service manager" to put that in writing regarding the tune. Did he explain that GM has in the past required the dealer upload your car's ECU data on warranty work. If he has a way to bypass it then you will always be covered as long as he works there.

ZL1-V: I don't need it in writing. The supercharger replacement is done and I'm satisfied. The reason I made this post is because of what the Service Manager said to me. And when you first bring your car into a dealership for a warranty claim, the service department can be on your side or they can be against you (and your mods). And I would NEVER expect a dealer to bypass anything. If I had a tune, so be it. That's on me.

I know that dealers are different in their approach to modded cars. In the end, it all boils down to what GM will cover, because they're paying the warranty bill.

Agreed. If you put a new pully there is no way they will back the warranty. With a tune they can get out of it. I would still wait on mods if that is a concern of yours. Just my two cents

So the dealership replaced my supercharger today, its at the dealer I bought it from 2 hours away. Their going to bring it back to me tomorrow, I know one of the Techs and he sent me a video and saying the new one has a rattle till you give it throttle. He said its not as loud as the one they replaced and has quieted down some more since the first start-up. Its a crappy cell video but almost sounds like it did before instead of the flutter people talk about from the S/C. Any advice on this or anyone have a video I can compare the Flutter of the newer S/C's? Also could it be in my snout, because they re-used it since its ported and has a pulley on it and has a solid coupler?

Why did you replace the whole supercharger if you already put in the solid isolator that is in your sig?

I noticed for the last two weeks the S/C rattle has been getting louder, so I took a video of it and sent it to the service manager. He said they will come get it and check it out, they looked at it and said it fell under the TSB and GM has a service recall on it. So that's why they changed the S/C.

Here is a video of it before it went to the dealer.

Well, that's a new one. You have the rattle even with an aftermarket coupler. And they are replacing it even though you have a pully. Great.
Actually, your rattle sounds different than the spring coupler. It sounds to me like bad bearing and the rotors contacting, but I am not an expert.

So they brought my car back today and it still has a rattle even after they changed the SC, it's not as loud as the other one. They re-used my snout because of the pulley and its ported. Could it be my snout bearings? Not sure where to go from here!!

Ok here is my take on this. I had my mods done at ADM back in February. I had cam, heads, heat exchanger, different pulleys installed. I went from a 2.5 upper and 8.25 lower to 2.38 upper and 8.6 lower also. The thing I noticed was a little more rattle out of it after noticing and talking to Andy I believe it is cause of the pulley changes that might actually bring out the rattle more inherently.. After talking to andy he assured me the sound is almost normal. If you read around if the sound goes away at diff higher rpms no problems. You can even read online about other superchargers sounding the same. But I will assure you if I run into any problems my car will be back at ADM before anyone else touches it every again.. I trust andys thinking and I am sure Andy has dealt more with these chargers than any gm tech MY 2 cents....
