4th gen rebuild vs 3rd gen 5.3L/t56 swap
Hey guys so I've been kicking around the idea of picking up a project/HPDE car. I'm in college so I don't have an unlimited budget. I'm considering of picking up a third gen for around 3-5k and picking up a 5.3L engine out of silverado and refresh it, as well as getting a hold of a new T56 transmission. Or would it be better cheaper to buy a higher mileage 99-02 (don't want a 98) and refresh it as well as throw a few affordable upgrades on it while I'm in the engine? What would be more cost effective? Advice ? Ideas?

if you are planning on pulling the engine from the 3rd gen to swap, you should be able to spend much less than 3-5k for one. look for a roller chassis without engine/trans so you can put more money towards the new drivetrain.
If I was buying a 3rd gen to swap an engine into, I wouldn't spend over $2k for a roller chassis and that would be only if the interior was immaculate and it had no rust.

Thanks spike! Advice anyone else? How much on average do you think I could get the 5.3L third gen swap done vs rebuilding and modding a fourth gen?
