mine is a 2014 that ive had for nearly a year and not a single crack yet. cant imagine how it would happen unless something hit it very hard. american cars have very good build quality.

My wife noticed a crack on the dash, passenger side. I was driving at the moment, and could barely see it, but went to check later. No crack. I figured it must have been a wayward hair that landed on the dash and LOOKED like a crack. Women. What do they know, right?

But, a couple of weeks later, holy crack... there it was. Sure enough.

I went to show my wife that, sure enough, she was correct... but couldn't find the crack. It vanished again.

And so it has been. The crack is about six inches long, when it's visible, and runs parallel to the windshield. It's in sorta the middle of the vastness of the blank acreage in the middle of the dash, not near any seams or joints.

Now you see it, now you don't... been this way for a year.

Yup. I've used nothing but Adam's interior cleaners and conditioners too, so don't tell me it's some armor all problem, etc !

I'm not a huge fan of dash mats but does anyone have pics of one installed?

Mine cracked back in 2012... had the dash replaced under warranty. I wanted to upgrade to the 2012 dash, but they wouldn't do it even with me paying the difference.

There's a difference in the dash, between the two years?

Well my buddy has a 2010, cracked dash, dealer told him if your original owner they will fix it, however if your 2nd owner then he (dealer) would split $600 cost to fix it..sounded fair and he did that as the 2nd owner of car. Try talking at least to regional service manager see if you can make a deal with him as this is a KNOWN issue. i would not go on first and only word of your dealer. JMHO..

Hot sun + dry, neglected dash.

Typically..

However, with all these newer cars cracking, I'm beginning to wonder if there's a flaw in the material.

My dash (cracked) has been babied, cared for very well. However, I get temps that range from 9 to 118 (that's the range I have observed), including a lot of sun exposure. I can't really blame cracks on anything other than time and exposure.
