+2 .. I agree with you mostly.(I do like the Challenger's looks though, but it doesn't matter). I love my current SS. It's a great car, it reminds me of the 1969 Camaro. I smile every time I see it. I am happy to drive no matter where I am going. I am even happy to pay for it each month. I don't care which brand sells the most, or what's coming out. It will take one heck of a car to make me even think about swapping.

Really. So I should assume you were sitting in the design meetings at Ford when the car was planned? Otherwise, how would you know what their intent with the S197. Where do you come up with this stuff? Can you find anyplace where Ford indicated their intent with the S197 was to re-create a 1stGen Mustang in every aspect?

And how is the Zeta Camaro any more "retro-futuristic" than the S197 a Mustang was? I have a 1stGen Camaro and I owned a 5thGen Camaro, and it is obvious the new car was built upon styling cues present in the original design.

And THIS is what a car buying experience should be about! Not about who builds the damn thing!

This is not surprising to me in the least. I attribute the difference in sales to 2 major things as well as some small ones.

1. The Mustang is brand new, Challenger got a exterior refresh with a great interior upgrade and the Camaro is old.

2. Price. Go check Autotrader. The leftover 2014 Camaro's are no cheaper than similarly equipped 2015 Mustangs. The fact that Ford dealers are offering up to $5k discounts on a Brand new model will for sure get it to sell well. You can get a Ecoboost for $22k, GT for $30k and GT premium for $35k. That is seriously aggressive price undercutting of the competition.

lol... Well you can look at a 5th Gen and say that it looks like a new Gen but if you look at the 05 mustang that thing definitely looks like they basically just replicated the 60's mustang. The only thing different is that the 2005 mustang don't have the curves like the 60's did. The 5th Gen don't look like they replicated the 60's Camaro's at all . Styling cues is different than a replicate. This is why not all 60 Camaro owners or some other owners didn't like the 5th Gen because it has more futuristic look than a 60's retro Camaro.

If you honestly want to claim someone copied off of another's success, the Mustang was the first to draw design cues from the 60's. Mustang was retro when the Camaro looked like a Catfish. After Camaro paused production, Ford amped up the retro styling and a few years later GM and Dodge followed suit seeing the great success it had with the baby boomers. Anyways. I'm interested to see if GM has kept the predominant retro theme in the C6. That alone will factor into the sales war.
And lol... We all know that the 05 mustang started the retro theme . So yes , the 5th Gen copied the blueprint . Chevy just took the blueprint and did it better in buyers , shows and magazines eyes. So give the 5th Gen some credit too . Because there is always someone that started something and than someone that takes it and does it better .

Daaaaaang , that's cheap! It's funny how the Camaro cost more but it was still kicking the mustang but for 5 years straight. That's impressive when the mustang is America's favorite pony/muscle car but ppl still picked against it and spent more just for a Camaro. But the price is just one of many things that the mustang has over the Camaro . But I'm happy the new bigger, wider, longer, heavier and new style mustang is doing so good because Chevy needs to change the 6th Gen front end. If it does still have the refresh front that is.

Why does Chevy need to change the front end? I think the front end of the 14'-15's are awesome! You don't like them?

Well I personally like the muscle car look front of the 10-13's better and the challenger's than the 14-15's too. The 1LE's looks sweet in the 14-15 years though. It's not that I don't like them , it's that the cars are losing in sales . So you need to change it. What would make someone but the 6th Gen if it looks like the 5th Gen refresh especially from the front? The Camaro needs to get a new look .

More like muscle cars these days ! Everything scream muscle on these cars that's why its called muscle car sales instead of pony car sales. I wouldn't tell anyone that I have a pony car. Lol.. And like I said before it's not that I don't like the front . We are all winning.
