Exclamation remote

Ok so today not sure why but when I pulled out my key from the ignition a chime came on as if lights or something stayed on I'm looking all over the car checking and nothing. My remote doesn't work now, no unlock - lock, trunk or panic button. I thought maybe my remote is going out went inside to get the spare and nothing still the same. Has anyone came across this?
Any help would be great thanks. Or a starting point to some were. Thanks

andyc098,

I'm sorry to hear about your ignition key and remote concerns. I understand how displeasing this would be and realize you're seeking opinions about it. However, if you'd like to consider getting an official GM diagnosis, please message me privately as I can reach out to the dealer's Customer Experience Managers (CEM) for additional assistance. If you'd like to contact us privately, we'd be happy to discuss this with you further.

Regards,

William R.

Can you unlock the car with the key?

If so, does the lock buttom in the car work?

Most importantly, can you start the car?

I recall you avatar saying a 2011. If you are under a certified warranty, I would certainly take the car to a dealer. If not, try and locate the fuse(s) dealing with remote functions and check those. (I'm new to the fifth gen, so not much helping you find these yet). Another thing you might try is to disconnect the battery, which may reset the system.

Hello William are you located in houston? I have an extended warranty on the car I just don't want to pay 100 dollars for a quick fix if possible. Not sure how to private message yet.

I can lock and unlock car with key just not the remote. When I hit the lock button inside it locks then 5 secs later drivers side unlocks. So I just lock it from out side car. And yes I can start the car. I'll have to try to disconnect the battery. Will it reset the radio? No code?

I had my battery disconnected for about 2 hours while I installed a new starter a few weekends ago. It did mess with the time/date on the radio, but it did not lose my preset stations/eq settings/etc...and no codes at all upon re-connecting it. You should be good to go

Maybe one of the buttons on your key fob is stuck. Was your original remote within range of the car when you tried the spare key fob? I would remove the battery from the original key fob and try your spare again.

I don't think the button is stuck. I feel a click on the remote. And why wouldn't the trunk or panic button work? I'm like right outside the car so I'm sure the key is in range.

Is the chime still on? If so it sounds like the car still thinks the key is in the ignition as if something is pressing a contact. It could be the flap that generally covers the key hole when the key is removed.

That's what I been thinking ghost. There's suppose to be a flap right? I came to the conclusion that might of been the problem. Car thinks key is still in ignition.
