2014 LT RS rear rotors scored at 6k miles
Like the title says, I have a 2014 LT RS and while cleaning my wheels over the weekend I noticed that my rear rotors already have at least 5/6 scores on them. Fronts look fine. Makes sense as I have also noticed that braking off an off ramp is not the smoothest thing. Never taken the car to the track. This seems kinda crazy to me to have rotor issues at 6k miles.
Car is currently at the dealer for RS badge peeling and http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=250216, so while its in there for that, I'm thinking of getting this looked at too. Thoughts? |

Update:
Dealer called and said this is normal. Maybe Chevy can chime in here and tell me that scoring is normal at 6K miles? Is this a document known issue? Basically dealer is not willing to do anything in this case, stating that this is normal. |

Like said, we need pictures to tell you for sure, you will see light lines and such in the rotors, they don't wear completely smooth.

In understand pictures are useful Destructo09, car was at dealer so I didn't have access to it to do so. In either case, If I post a picture of rotor scoring, I think we all know what that looks like. Are you also implying that some scoring is normal?

I had the same issue with my 2014. The rear passenger rotor had score marks in it at 5k. The dealer turned the rotor and inspected it all under warranty. The other day I've noticed score marks on the same rotor at 6,400 Miles. I bring it in Friday.

Is it vibrating or making noise? So it's a cosmetic issue? Score marks on rotors usually come from debris between the pad and rotor- otherwise how does a flat pad surface 'score' the rotor face?

Because rotor wear can sometimes be consistently inconsistent.

If the pads stick, it can wear uneven- but 'scoring' is caused by debris.

At times the brakes do make noise, no vibration. I was told the first time it was debris which caused the marks. They took care of it and I was on my way. Only 1,500 miles later the marks came right back. Only one rotor is like this, got to be something more. What are the odds of debris a second time to just that rotor.

Car is officially only 7 months old(bought it new in July 2015 as a left over). All factory parts are still on it. We'll see what the dealer says this time.

Update: Rear rotors and pads were replaced under warranty. Rather painless process at that.
