Alpine PDR F50 - What is "remote"

The power and ground are obvious. What wire from the harness needs to go into the one labeled "remote". The Alpine Tech Support told me the Amp will not power on without it.

That's the signal from the head unit to tell the amp to turn on. Else it turns off. Think of it as a relay switch for the amp. It should be present on a standard head unit harness. Same as the output that tells an antenna to go up when the radio is selected.

Thanks. Steve at Sub Thump emailed me back and told me that it is a spare wire that is white with orange stripe and is in the brown harness that is attached to stock BA amp. Hope that helps anyone else that may run into this.

That is not totally correct.
In an aftermarket unit, there are two wires for the antenna trigger and the amp trigger. The solid blue wire is the antenna trigger, and is only on when the tuner is playing. Using this wire as the amp remote will result in the amp shutting off every time you select another source that is not the tuner.

The blue wire with a white stripe is the amp remote trigger wire.

I did mean that, I guess I worded it where it could be misunderstood. I mean "like it" not "is it"
