How many watts is the OEM Boston Accustics stereo?
I am putting in a Scosche dash kit so I will be purchasing a new head unit. I don't want a head unit that puts out less watts then the OEM unit.
I may put in subwoofers but not until later, can I use one amp for both the head unit and the subwoofers? If yes, what do you guys recommend the wattage of the amp I need to buy? I was not able to find much information online so I'm hoping some of you guys can help me out. I want to try to educate myself prior to going to the car stereo place. Russ |

275 is overrated as many cheap amps and speakers are.
Sounds like you are looking for a 5 channel or 5.1 amp. It will power all the speakers as well as a sub. You could add the sub now or later.

Putting a JL XD700/5 in my car if you are interested in an "all-n-one" amp. 75 watts x 4 (at 4ohms) to the speakers, 300 watts to the sub (at 2ohms).

CooG- Thanks for the info, I was hoping someone would give me a recommendation on an amp. I just placed an eBay bid on a XD770/5. I wanted just 1 amp that would run a subwoofer if I decide to add one later.

I will be using seperate amps. I have an extra, certified class D Alpine 1000X1. for two ten inch subs.

if you have the bosten accoustic, it doesn't matter how many watts the head unit has, cause you go with the low level outputs (cinch) to the amp.

You can get a Kappa 5 on amazon right now for about $275. The XD700 would be almost $450. |

The JL Audio amplifiers are the way to go. Reliable and worth every cent. The XD series and the HD series 5 channels are amazing.

I just got a 2014 2SS with it and its really not that much better than the sound system that was in my 2011. Way overrated! Its better but not by much.
