Just from what I've observed online, the GT500 owners seem to be more knowledgable about cars and what other cars can do performance-wise than the typical Mustang owner. No offense to anyone, that's just my own generalization.

how many of you actually watched the hotlap/commentary video of the driver taking the SS for a spin?
http://www.motortrend.com/av/feature...lap/index.html

I get that this is a Camaro forum... but let's face it, it's not the best handling car in the world. I find it to be complimentary that the car was even considered for this comparison honestly...

Camaro SS did something amazing, it beat a Nismo 370z around a legit road course. How much did the SS cost? How much did the NISMO 370z cost? That's amazing to me.

ZR1 took no prisoners.

Why didn't they just not bother going to a track? Since they are not going to use numbers to back up there statements why not call this for what it is? It's a popularity contest. It's nothing but imo biased opinion.

Yeah I've noticed the same thing... of course the kind of person who aims for something like the GT500 is usually a car enthusiest to begin with so it all makes sense.

Again, I realize this is a Camaro forum, and that we all love the Camaro... but why does everyone bash on the Miata so much?

Drove one at one of those Mazda Zoom-Zoom events and it really is a lot of fun to drive... very communicative and agile. Not sure I would want to own one for day-to-day driving but I don't get why it's bashed so hard.

OK, fine, I get it, it's girly... but a real automotive/driving fan can look past the "image" I think...

The people bashing it are the same people to scream as soon as any statement complimenting another car is made, or any statement discussing an imperfection of the Camaro is made.

These AREN'T "automotive/driving fans".

Miata is fine. All the cars in this review are fine. The problem I have is they try to Quantify what is really just there opinion, with numbers gained at the track. Simple fix would be to have 2 ratings, 1.) is what place the car was at the track, and then 2.) what car they "LIKED" the most. Trying to use some funky graph and say that the ZR1 is not as good as the 5 cars above it when it Molly wopped everything there, just because they don't like it, is the crux of the problem.

It's a bit like telling Lance Armstrong that, well, he will be 6th not 1st in the tour de france because he looks funny riding the bike and all he did was go fast in the straights.

In the end, it just goes to show that, the most important thing you can do when contemplating buying a new car is take it for a spin. YOUR judgement on what is good and bad is the most important. They are not going to be paying that bill every month.
