Power Steering & a tune
My power steering went out last week and I took it into the dealer to get it looked at. When it went out, no codes or warnings popped up.
A full week at the dealer and they call me today saying that an aftermarket part is shorting the power steering. I have headers, a bo white ported tb, throttle controller, cai intake and a tune. Question is, would a tune mess with the power steering in anyway? The dealer doesn't know exactly what is causing it to short and I told them they need to find out exactly what it is. Any one else have issues with the power steering with similar mods? EDIT - Oh, I have a 2014 Camaro 2SS L99 |

Just got a call back from the dealer and they said that the vitesse throttle controller is interfering with the steering. Uh, OK. Gonna go to the dealer and switch it out real quick and see what happens then...

Oh my goodness...the dealer has been sitting on my car for THREE days...
I called and left messages and even emailed the service adviser. When I finally spoke to him today, he said he didn't even know my car was there. The service adviser who took my car back said that he would let my service adviser know. Thanks dealer for having great communication with one another...ARG. |

Well, the dealer said they tried to program the power steering and it failed twice. At first, they were blaming the tune, then they blamed the throttle controller, now they just don't care why it isn't programming.
They're going to return my car to me after holding it for 2 weeks, not finding out what the problem is, and they don't want to spend more time trying to figure out what it could be. My car is under warranty, any suggestions? Should I take it to a different dealer? Sigh... |

I'd be really, really interested as to know how any of the mods you have affect your power steering at all.
Granted, shorts in wiring are a general bitch to begin with but if it's actually a short or a faulty wire somewhere it should be covered under warranty. Magnuson-Moss protects you to the point that whatever modifications you've made will have to have directly caused the failure before it's your problem on your dime. In short, yes take it to a different dealer. Hopefully someone on here has a good idea of a dealer with good techs in the LA area for you.

I picked up my car from the dealer and took it to a different one. When I picked it up, they wouldn't even write up any paperwork. Is that even normal? I asked them to give me a write up of what was done so that the other dealer doesn't go through the same thing, but they said that they wouldn't write me anything.
Well, here's hoping for the best since nobody knows why my power steering isn't working... |

Just a quick update. Took my car to a different dealer right after I picked it up. Since it was Friday and I didn't have an appointment, I left it over the weekend.
Come Monday, they give me a call and found out what the problem was. The ground wire where the intake is wasn't making good contact with the chassis. They moved it to a different location and everything was working perfectly. My car works, I'm happy, they're happy, we're all happy now. |
