How to patch fix front license plate holes

Well unfortunatly I was unable to stop the dealer from installing the front license plate holder. I removed it this weekend now I have 4 ugly holes in the middle of my bumper. Any recommendations on how to patch/fix the holes????

Thank you

If the dealer did it without your permission, I would try to get the dealer to repair for you. This way it is done by GM Certified Painters.

Not so easy but worth a try but, you are asking the dealer to spent $$ to fix a problem that may not be a problem from their point of view. If your state requires that you have a front license plate, you can not win a claim against a dealer for mounting the front lic bracket, a friend tried this already with a new BMW he ordered. As much as some of us would like to think that we "own" the car from the day we placed the order, the reality is, the dealer owns the car until you sign the purchase contract in the end and you get handed the keys. California is one of those states and I sent several reminders to my salesperson, including the owner of the dealership, to make sure the front lic holder did not get installed. Lucky for me, they remembered.

Yup my state requires front license plates, but I didn't care and will take my chances....
I just wish i knew to tell the dealers not to install it.

All you can do is Bondo it and repaint the entire front bumper. If you had a metallic paintjob, good luck getting it to match. My suggestion is put the plate back on. Its not that big of a deal.

First thing you are going to want to do is measure the size of the hole you'll need to fill.

Next either go to home-depot or autozone or any auto parts place and get your self some plastic auto body fasteners.

Can be bought here.

Next get yourself a bottle of Dupli-color adhesion promoter.

$5.69 at Autozone.com

Last buy yourself a bottle of touch up paint.
I got mine from automotivetouchup.com

Buy the plugs you need.. spray them with the adhesion spray (think primer) and then paint them with the touch up paint.. I used a crappy air brush I got from a yard sale. Cost me $10 (look on craigslist)

Total cost to plug the holes.. about $25.00 including airbrush.

* I went with plugs because I live in Mass. and eventually I'm going to have to get the front plate (I have a green plate for mass. folks). This way I don't spend huge money fixing a problem that I know I'm going to have to deal with down the line.

it will match if its metallic...it will just be very expensive, and they will need to blend it.

I feel your pain, mine got drilled as well even though I sent emails and told them in person not to drill the car many times before it came in.

They use to sell a urethane bumper repair kit, don't know if they are still available or not but worth a try.
