Im with a bunch of you. Im coming from a 2001 SS with MS4 cam, longtubes, no cats and no mufflers. That was loud. And i loved it

I didnt do the fuse pull....my wife did. Ha. I was working on the intake while she did the pull. While it is louder, its still far from loud. You do get the gurgling and popping. That doesnt bother us. Still trying to decide what to do as far as headers or aftermarket exhaust.

I can't tell you how many times if checked the remote connections to make sure it was working, because I couldn't tell a difference when cruising. If I have to be above 3500 rpm to hear it, I might as well keep the fuse in.
I think you must have pulled the wrong fuse. The difference is huge!

It really is a perspective thing. Everyones thoughts on what is loud vary greatly on past experience and personal preference. I will say there is a difference. Is it enough? Thats on the end user. Mine will stay pulled until i get headers and i will adjust accordingly from then on.

To me the difference is slight. Yes you can tell a SLIGHT difference at cruising speeds. I have the M2W installed, and sometimes have to hit the button to be SURE that the flaps are open. I have to go back and forth to make sure it's working.

Like mentioned before, it's what you're used to. I like loud cars. I've had many loud cars. This, to me, is quiet even with the flaps open.

If only that was the case...I wish that was the case...but I pulled the right one, did the remote and went cruising. Couldnt tell a difference, so I went back, made sure the receiver was working went on a cruise...went back home, pulled everything back apart and checked to make sure that everything was still in place. Did this for a couple of weeks, drove myself crazy. Then I went to straight fuse pull, I figured I'd know for sure then what the difference was...slight difference, but not enough to have fuses out of the car (for me).

Heck you guys are going to make me going through this again

Maybe your valves don't work? Try getting someone to slowly rev your engine with the fuse in and system on. If you don't see them open and close, then something is wrong. There is definitely a noticeable difference, especially at cruising speeds. It doesn't make the exhaust any louder, it just doesn't dampen the sound while cruising or accelerating. I may do a before and after video for people to reference. Just need to find a GoPro to mount on the rear bumper.

Id love a video, maybe from inside and out. Im the only one that can drive my car, so that is out, I thought of that as well. I do hear the valves open when I go past 3500 rpm, that is a noticeable change, so that would leave me to believe they are working at least properly with the fuse in. I guess I could try, taking the fuse out again and seeing what the car sounds like when I hit the 3500 rpm range again.

But a video (inside/out) would be awesome, it would keep me from going crazy.

I'm going to apologize ahead of time for this dumb question, but are there ANY issues associated with the exhaust flap being open all the time? Is it there purely for noise abatement or is there another reason the exhaust flap closes at lower rpm? Thanks.

Purely for noise control.

Just did the fuse pull. I like the sound, especially the crackling when decelerating. Don't know if I really noticed any increased smoothness at low rpm, but it was already smooth to begin with. If sound is the only benefit then I'll take it.

OK, so I took your advice & recorded it, since no one was around to help.

The flaps work properly with the fuse in, open at start, closed upon rev, and open again at 3500 rpm.

Fuse out, flap stays open regardless, rev'd to 2K rpm and held it, flat stayed open.

Put the relay back and nothing, I can hear the switch in the relay working with the car off. One video I shot the flap closed as it should, then opened when I pushed the homelink, then closed when I pushed the other homelink button, but did not open again. B/C I couldnt hear a difference, I pushed both homelink buttons that I previously programed, but it stayed closed. Upon reviewing the video it stayed closed. I did it again using the homelink and the remote, this time, it closed as it should but did not open again, regardless of what button I pushed. Attached are pictures of the relay. What am I doing wrong?

Maybe I missed this, but are you using an aftermarket attachment to control the flaps or do you just want to pull the fuse? If it's an aftermarket part, I can't help you. I just pulled the fuse because I like the sound. It doesn't bother me when cruising. A lot of people like to control it, because they want them closed when cruising. And I imagine with headers or no cats, it's a little loud when cruising flaps open.

In taking your advise to make sure the flaps were working, I found that they do with the fuse in and they stay open without it. I also found that they didn't with the aftermarket relay. I was hoping that someone might be able to tell me what could be wrong from the picture. Id like the ability to control it.
