Just Bought a Used ZL1 and it doesnt have mufflers... ADVICE?

Hey guys,

I just picked up a 13 Convertible and the dealer that sold it to me gave me a killer price on the car but the previous owner cut the npp mufflers off and just welded the tips on a y-pipe.

So now I have two questions-

1) Is it worth looking for used NPP mufflers? or Should I just go down to the local muffler shop and slap on some mufflers there? If so any suggestions?
I don't need the extra noise, something close to stock is good enough for me.

2) The vacuum lines that go to the actuators are just sitting on the car. Do I need to do anything to them IF I dont go with NPP mufflers?

Thanks in advance....

you def need to cap off the lines from your manifold...
i dont get the y pipe part....mufflers for these cars will be specific fit. aftermarket will be cheaper than buying new stock. i dont theres a sellers market for npp exhaust as its a wanted option usually. might have to find some non npp stock mufflers if you dont wanna get too loud. should be lots on the members classifieds here.

This is what I mean by the y-pipe part. The tips are original but the npp muffler is gone and the exhaust is all hacked up.

Where's the best place to intercept the vacuum line??

cap it at the blower snout - its the small 90 degree vac connect ,unplug it and get a small vac cap from your local autoparts store

Thanks guys - So capping the vacuum lines is handled.

Any suggestions for an aftermarket exhaust for a convertible ZL1? All the applications seem like they're for a coupe cause of the extra bracing beneath the verts.

Can the dealer sell you the car like that? It needs to pass emissions...

If it was a "certified pre-owned" sale the dealership should make it right....and they should have caught that!

Mufflers required for emissions?

Some cars come OEM without mufflers at all...

Here all cars out of state have to be inspected by county sheriffs office, but we got rid of emissions testing years ago. They just make you test the horn and the lights and signals.
