ZL hits Armadillo (Bloody Photos)

I hit an Armadillo on the way home.

Splitter is cracked

On a good note it wasn't a deer.

I guess tomorrow I will talk to the body shop or insurance company, not sure I may just fix it myself.

Thats a brutal scene. It might be worth to replace it on your own.

I don't think it will be pocket change to repair and repaint.

Well now, that just sucks. And you're right - good thing it wasn't a deer.

I hit a deer back in '98 in a 9 day old '98 Z/28 doing 70 mph on I-75 south of Wapakoneta here in Ohio. My car was totaled by the insurance company because after I hit the deer, I slid off the road, down into the right side of the road's steep embankment, back UP the embankment and through the right of way fence into the adjoining woods about 15 feet.

The car's uni-body was twisted from the impact. And the deer? Dead of course with fur embedded in the cracked fascia and windshield surround.

I've got pics somewhere - it was ugly.

Glad you are ok - the car can be fixed.

Glad you're safe...

Seems to me to be a lot less damage than I would have thought hitting those little armored bastards.

I hit a possum once in my Charger SRT8, and it wiped out the bumper, radiator support and radiator (cracked right where there trans fluid went in).

The splitter itself is fairly inexpensive. I had mine replaced at the dealer a year or two ago for $170 installed.

I was about to say that North Florida is known for armadillos (I have family there). Good luck with the fix.

Talked with adjuster today scheduled for repair on Tuesday. No paint work required and from what we can tell no underneath damage. More to follow...
