You can keep 8 of your lug nuts too... and, if you're real sneaky, the jack, the dip stick, and the owners manual.

Most dealers actually have a good bit of various keys on hand for things like that, I know we had a bin full of them at the dealership I worked for, great way to avoid buying keys lol.

So I get it, if you buy a used car, get the one with a single key. The money you saved will be worth it to buy other things

It wont effect the value when they sell it, they wont even tell the next owner there's only one key until after they pay for it. lol

They'd gladly sell you a car with one key.

Don't worry about it.

The thing is they don't . I bought a brand new 2003 Grand Am GT years ago it had 1500 miles on it so it was used . Only had 1 key with a fob. I would have had to spend 150 to buy the second key fob.

OP turn both keys in when you trade the car in . Why force the next owner to buy a new key/fob ? They aren't cheap.

Just take a picture of the car, it will mean more than a key in the long haul. You can show the picture to your friends and they'll say, "Woe, nice car." With the key, what will they say? "Nice key dude!"

a lot of dealers will just sell it with one key and make the customer pay for a new one, my 2010 1LT was that way.

Paid $55 for 2 new Chevy fobs and $28 each to cut. There is no "special programming" if you have one original fob to car.

Keep it if ya want. The GM list price (what dealers pay) is $18.

Tell them you took the CAR in for the RECALL KEY FOB FIX, and they only gave you Back ONE Key. You didn't question it thinking that was apart of the recal!

They won't even care. They might ask "hey, would you happen to have a 2nd key at home?" just say NOPE and thats it. Not a big deal.

WTF?

What the hell are you going to do with the other key? Sleep with it?

Why wouldn't you give the new owner both sets so they can enjoy the car.

This isn't a great moral decision but come on....remember the golden rule...due unto others as you would have done to you...

This thread is making my head hurt due to the amount of stupidity...I'm out
