I deal with SCAQMD all the time. Its no joke out there in California when it comes to air quality. I just spent a week in Beijing. Trust me, our standards in the U.S., and the even tighter air quality standards in Cali, are a good thing. Air pollution in Beijing is unbelievably bad.

He can stay there. Personally, I'd take a position on Aviation Boulevard in a heartbeat. Hello, Manhattan Beach!

I grew up in So Cal and spent my early adult years there. I thought things were bad back then. OMH! I would never live in that state again.

From all the limited info we have this seems to be a good thing. I was stationed overseas and the LACK of care or concern over air quality is amazing. I think you should protest it, stand up for your kids and don't allow MONEY being paid to politicians who ONLY care about money get in the way! That's Americas problem now, money, greed and corporations rule every aspect of our lives. The people are not free! Big business can buy and sell you anything they want as long as they finance those supposedly in charge.

On second thought OP you're actually MAD that this agency sent you a 'warning' letter of possible issues that could have an effect on the well being of your children and you're bothered by that? REALLY?!?!?!?! I find this mindset troubling. Its sad that so many mericans care more about businesses than their own livelihoods. ON the flip side had you not got the warning, your child gets sick then you're ready to sue someone or proclaim that the gov't isn't doing their job... oh the irony.........

It's a generator. It can't hurt anybody. Do you have a lawnmower?

Per the page on Proposition 65: "In 1986, California voters approved an initiative to address their growing concerns about exposure to toxic chemicals. That initiative became the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986, better known by its original name of Proposition 65. Proposition 65 requires the State to publish a list of chemicals known to cause cancer or birth defects or other reproductive harm. This list, which must be updated at least once a year, has grown to include approximately 800 chemicals since it was first published in 1987.

Proposition 65 requires businesses to notify Californians about significant amounts of chemicals in the products they purchase, in their homes or workplaces, or that are released into the environment. By providing this information, Proposition 65 enables Californians to make informed decisions about protecting themselves from exposure to these chemicals. Proposition 65 also prohibits California businesses from knowingly discharging significant amounts of listed chemicals into sources of drinking water."

Prop 65 in plain language!

Yep... or a car?

That internal combustion engine is found in cars, trucks, airplanes, lawn mowers, WeedEaters, go carts, boats, RC cars, motorcycles.... and so forth.

I find it silly that there will be discussions and arguments--- time and money spent--- over this "internal combustion engine." Some of the ignorant public wouldn't know the difference between "internal combustion engine" and "monster that decapitates children with extreme prejudice," unaware of the fact that one more generator in a world with BILLIONS of internal combustion engines is not worthy of argument. Or, if some argue that it IS worthy of argument, then why do we not have public hearings every time somebody buys a car, or a lawnmower, or... you get the idea.

SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! dont give them idea's. Great now this poor bastard will have to go before a town hearing if he needs a new car. Maybe they will just make every dealer put in a small hearing room and they will post a state appointed I.C.E.CZARS (Internal Combustion Engine CZARS) to decide if you are buying an appropriate car.

Lets just cut off their electricity and stop shipping gasoline to them if they are so environmentally responsible. The rest of the country would be happy to get their share.
