Sounds good to me. Let me know what oil cooler you go with. I need one too. My oil temp was a bit north of where I'd like to see it.

I know it will be a setrab unit with the lingenfelter adapter, but not sure what size yet. All in all it will probably set me back about 800-1k, but much cheaper than a blown motor!

Which one did you go with? I was thinking the 25 or 34 row series 9 cooler would be sufficient.

I'm listening with great interest.

i went with the 60 row, series 1 setrab with 10AN hoses, also ran a max of 245F with the 90F ambient temps on Sat.

to be truthful, i went with the 60 to save some $ over the 72 row. i have the thermostat adapter because i run up north in the winter.
it is a straight forward install

Do either of you have pictures of the oil cooler mounted?

I can't help but wonder if I really need the biggest, baddest oil cooler they have. I've been to the track a total of 4 times. I'd like to do more but I'm not sure I can afford to. I'd like to find a happy medium. I added it all up and for the 72 row we're talking about $1100 bucks. I looked up the 60 this morning and it was actually $1 more expensive! WTF over?

I think you may have been looking at the 6 series. The 1 series 60 row is about $100 cheaper than the 72 row.

I agree with you though, I think a smaller cooler could be sufficient. If you look at the chart on the setrab site the btu/hr for the series 1 72 row is 40-60k. Other ones in a similar range are the 6 series 34 row and 9 series 25 row. The other thing to consider is dimensions. I like the dimensions of the 72 row as it should fit nicely in the lower grill area, but I don't think I can justify $600 for just the cooler.

Here is the link to that chart for your reference:

I just made an executive decision to table the oil cooler for a little bit. I stopped into Texas-Speed's shop this morning and picked up a new set of 2" Polished SS headers with high flow cats, MSD plug wires, NGK plugs, and the oh so important T-shirt. I'm going to try and do a DIY type thing for 1LE cars. Should be interesting since they told me the steering shaft "may" present a small issue but I should be able to deal with it. Shall see. Wish me luck.

You should be good if you just disconnect the steering shaft and then reconnect it after you're done. Good luck!

You ever figure out what that clicking noise is from? End links?

We'll, the headers are in and my alive! Those things are frigging awesome! I wish I had them on the car before the track day. I can't get the clamps on the collector end of the high flow cats to seal on either side so I need to either buy a TIG welder or find someone to pay to do it. It's harder than I thought to find someone to do it. Seems like TIG'ing is a fine art that not too many people can do. I can but I don't have a welder. Anyway, a huge thank you to those of you which recommended Texas Speed headers. I went with the 2" primary tubes, they're the only ones they had in stock. AWESOME!
