Curbed wheel..
For some reason I can't enter use the search feature...so if this has been covered before..my apologies.
I'm forgoing the $160 mobile wheel repair for my wheel as the last "mobile pro" did a so so job and feel the repair is well within my ability curve. Curbed...actually hit a loose piece of concrete on the road but it looks like curb rash. I read in a few websites that Bondo works well after cleaning, degreasing and sanding. JB Weld was also mentioned in a few articles. Anyone have any alternatives? Also, what paint works best for touch up? Area is a millimeter or deep 2 mm wide and 3 inches long Thanks!

I'd personally take it to Todd at Rodgers. If you want to do it yourelf, the paint is GM 8555 black. This is where it gets tricky. Its always going to look shiny unless you clearcoat it with a 40 gloss, 60% flattener agent.

Mine was a warranty issue. The factory never painted/coated the lugnut holes on all four wheels, stayed completely silver. I dropped them off last winter and had all 4 redone. Todd actually flipped the 60/40 to 40/60 matte/gloss so mine look a bit more gloss than factory. Easier to keep clean too. I'm sure it's a reasonable price, never have gotten sticker shock at Rodgers service. If it's too much, they'll tell you "it's not worth it, don't waste your money". I'm sure it's less than the $160 you paid before per wheel.

Wait...you painted the lug-nut SEATING AREA???????????????????? Gulp...ok, good luck with that. Word of advice, carry a stick (tourque wrench) in your trunk. Just so you know, I spent 2 hours REMOVING the paint from the seat area.

So...Todd will fix the scrape damage and paint them? My wheels have the same issue with the paint not being even..can see the uneven hue with silver bleed.

Also OP I have found that a 80/20 bondo/jb weld to be a pretty tough filler to beat (Higher % of JB is hard of sanding issues)

Matte black plastidip, the paint job on the rims is not very good, so the plastidip is an easy stop gap till you decide to get the rims all redone in powdercoat.

Sharpie works well until you get it painted. I have a few spots and use a sharpie. Pot holes.
It works for the time being. When I put her away for the winter I'll take the wheels to Wheels of America. I've seen there work here in Chicago and it's unbelievable. |

http://www.foreinnovations.com/product_p/pen_black.htm AWR does great repair work. Or you can sand the spot a little and use the black anodized paint pen and touch it up yourself. |

Can you post pictures of the rim with the sharpie? I was thinking this as well but, obviously, was skeptical.

Sharpie works...
Sharpie on a curbed wheel without sanding it first is like putting expensive makeup on a ugly woman ..from far away, looks ok. The caveat? Sharpie would look better if the area was sanded down first.
