For those of you who have heard of our #CamaroStrong project, it is sad to say that our member of the Detroit5thGen Camaro Cub Mike Strong, who gave us the inspiration for the project, passed away this past Saturday after a long battle with cancer.

#CamaroStrong will continue on in his memory forever.

STRONG, MICHAEL E. “Red” of Waterford; left this earth on May 16, 2015 after an audacious two year battle with colon and brain cancer at the age of 52; he fought with immeasurable strength. Mike leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved wife of thirty years, Julie. He was also the treasured father and mentor to sons Michael T. and Alex J. Strong. He was the son of Carl Strong and the late June. Brother of Debbie (J.T.) Armstrong and Lisa Strong (Sue Christopherson). Son in law of Don and Gerry Seeterlin. Brother in law of Patty (Bob) Kopacz, Mickey (Ted) Ginn, Don (Robin) Seeterlin, Ginny Seeterlin and Bill (Kim) Seeterlin. Special brother in law and birthday buddy to Mary Thomas. Mike was like a brother to the Schaeffer family, especially Kirk and Rick. Mike will also be remembered fondly by a host of nieces, nephews, countless friends, and as a father figure to many more. Mike retired from Cold Heading Company after more than 30 years in the industry. He was a man of integrity with the highest work ethic; he loved his family, friends, history and all things cars. Mike was a proud member of the Detroit 5th Gen Camaro Club and the inspiration for the Camaro Strong cause. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, May 21, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at the Riverside Chapel, Simpson-Modetz Funeral Home, 5630 Pontiac Lake Road, Waterford. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday and Wednesday 4 to 8 p.m. Interment Lakeview Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the family or to the Lingenfelter Foundation.
