Right... the solution to OP's problems as a result of modding a leased car is to throw more mods at it...

Might as well strip it to the bare chassis and return it to Chevy when the time comes as a VF Commodore.

Dude...modding a LEASED CAR is bad enough...TUNING A LEASED CAR??

This thread should be used as an example for all of what exactly not to do to a car. If you ever LEASE a car, keep it 100% stock. If you're going to do mods, buy the car.

Take it to an independent shop and have the problem diagnosed. Pay out of pocket to do it.

Even if the engine has bad compression, that doesn't mean you need a new engine and if the dealer says you do they're wrong and just want the extra money. Most likely bad compression means you need a valve job, if you really did overheat the car then possibly the head cracked but if it never overheated that shouldn't have happened, and even if they're claiming no warranty due to mods, it's not your fault the coolant hose popped (assuming you didn't change it)
They have to PROVE your mods caused the problems in order to deny your warranty.

The retail price on a new LFX crate engine is $4,700. As for labor, I have no clue.

However, the customer has to authorize tearing it down to diagnose it, because if there is a non-warrantable cause- he has to pay the bill. The dealer will want to be paid for their time. The hose probably didn't just pop and cause all this... the whole story is pretty convoluted.

Sounds like a small price to pay to avoid paying for an engine replacement. Unless the labor on these are crazy high for a valve job or something

And yeah I'm sure something must have happened with the hose or we'd be hearing of incidents all the time

If it had problems, why mod it? I can't imagine the decision process to do what you did.
I would get a junkyard head, slap it on and go on as if nothing happened if that's all that is wrong with it. $1200 or so and it's done.

Have you taken apart and inspected your ported intake manifold? Mine had a chunk that fell off and I got misfires all the time. Thankfully the chunk got stuck before my cylinder heads and I was able to pull it out.

Zero issues ever since.

10.2 hours including bleeding steering/ac recharge etc. Probably 11 hours out the door. Automatic would be slightly less.

Yeaa I put The factory one back on. The ported one looked fine. Didn't seem damaged and bc the problems were fixed. I waited about 3 months after they were fixed to start modding, none the less let's hope the valve job fixes it

Since they know that you tuned it, and voided the warranty. Can they require you to purchase the vehicle after the lease is up? It's not like they can sell it as a certified pre-owned vehicle. Or do they just charge you for the lost value? I can't see paying them 3000 for a valve job, then more when you return the car after the term. The thing that really gets me is that the vehicle was having similar issues before all this latest trouble. They would have to prove that your mods caused the damages. That would be tough considering the issues you had before the mods. You might want to talk to a lawyer. 3000 can buy a decent lawyer.
