Wouldn't it make the ZL1's price go up " on the older model ZL1's" if they decide not to make the ZL1?

I'll search for it.

FWIW, FenwickHockey65 is the one that notified me about it. And he told me about both the correct day and location both the ZL1 and Z/28 reveals months in advance... So I tend to take his word for stuff with corporate GM.

Believe what you want.

Possibly.

You ZL1 owners would get a kick out of your cars if you knew the behind-the-scenes story on the ZL1.

Let's just say... When the ZL1 was being developed, it had a different "Z" name.

I know it was to be called the Z28 to begin with after GM finished building the car the Z28 name didn't fit. The ZL1 badge was brought back to better fit this car....which is the baddest camaro on the street. The Z28 was just too small a name for such a awesome piece of machinery.

Soooo, which model gets the CCM brakes? Or DSSV shocks?

2 years of development for a couple thousand cars?

What a waste. Of both technology and knowledge gained.

i think theyll release a reconfigured lt4 not a detuned version to better fit the weight handling and other differences...itll end up with less power for that reason and basically take the throne of the zl1. also, HP dont mean nothing when you weigh significantly less an handle better.

i think the 1le is already kinda here with the SS and magnetic ride options to a certain degree. but making recaros an option and a rim/tire package is simple for them so i expect a 1le type model.

the z/28...probly toast now. or maybe an upgraded zl1 or 1le option to fit the bill? hard to believe the z/28 will return. can you imagine if they designed a whole new engine for this gen though? LT7? lol...cafe regs probly ruin it too

First off there is no confirmation GM will make a 6th Gen ZL1. My bet is that they what 1-2 years to see if the 6th Gen sales justifies making a ZL1 again.

I think with the options of Mag ride and Brembo's is makes the 1LE option of the 5th Gen obsolete. The SS are also to have standard aux transmission and diff coolers as well.

Aside from the mag ride and S/C where do they go? I mean the newer platform is lighter so it will post better track times. I get that. But will it be reliable? Only time will tell with the Z06/Z07.

But...this lighter platform also means you lose some of the bullet proof drivetrain we now have. The current ZL1 can track, drag race and be a comfortable daily cruiser...

Funny they didn't say anything about the 6th Gen being able to handle a launch control feature.

The LT4 S/C 650hp in the stingray is great but they are having problems with overheating and I'm not sure the drivetrain is as robust as our current ZL1's. The LSA motor is rock solid and very reliable. And with a simple pulley and header mods we can match that HP rating and then some with our current tried and tested platform. Seems most modded ZL1's can get up to 700rwhp fairly easy and still be reliable.

Now I do like that you can get the Rev Match feature of the 6th Gen manuals. That would be a great feature to have. The interior updates are cool but I think the new interior starts to look too busy after a while. The light show is nice but it's just that...a show.

The 8spd auto would be an awesome option. Can't go wrong there. I still prefer to row my own gears but I'm sure having a 8spd auto will appeal to the masses.

All in all I think the current 5th Gen ZL1 owners should feel very blessed and lucky to own such a great piece of automotive engineering greatness. I truly feel the 5th Gen ZL1's will go down as one of the greatest Camaros ever built by GM.
They will... They totally will make a ZL1 or some sort of supercharged version. In fact, it's probably going to get the same drivetrain bits already going into the new 2016 CTS-V which will be tested and refined by the time the ZL1 gets them. New CTS-V is 640hp?

To be honest I'd be ecstatic if they just put the current LSA into the Gen6 body with the CTS-V drivetrain. Especially if they go forged internals. That would be a dream.

Naw the Zl1 badge will be retired with the 5th gen. Overflow is on to something. The 6th gen will need at least a 700 hp stripped version for me to even consider it. Something like the current Z28 with LSA power levels(at least) with the magnetic ride to make the car a little more street usable. I dont need all that techie stuff, nav, electric e brake, push button start, my link, electric seats, heated steering wheel.

I just posted on another thread about the 1LE...as being just a 3rd and 5th gen RPO...

But reading here, yes there was a 4th gen, but if you look at how theyre selling and what was on them theyre never going to be worth more than a typical SS (the 4th gens I mean)

Looks for a 1LE third gen (especially a non B4C car as in a cop car which all where 1LE with autos in em) those go for BIG bucks for a 3rd gen.

So my bet is that IF the 1LE comes back, it wont be anything as spectacular compared to the regular SS, not like the departure the 1LE is now for a regular SS 5th gen
