I don't think gas will cause reduced power mode unless you got REALLY bad gas. But gas stations are tested and have to be within limits. The problem is the VTC. Now, I will not knock the device, they work and are fun to have on the car. Like you, mine was on for a while and no problems, then suddenly it started throwing me into reduced power mode every time I tried to drive! So I took it off. Have not had a problem since. I think it just takes a while for the device to confuse the ECM enough for the problem to occur. It sees the discrepancy enough that it throws a code...then will every time. Maybe keeping it off a couple weeks will reset it so the VTC will work fine for awhile...but my gut says the problem will come back again. Some may be running it and not have a problem...yet. And maybe they get lucky and don't have the problem ever.
I have shorty headers, HF cats, CAI, and ported TB. VTC told me with no tune and my mods, I may not be able to run any higher than SP2 or 3...I would need to figure it out via trial and error. Or get a tune. I think I have decided just to leave it off. Getting thrown into reduced power mode in heavy traffic could be a disaster! LOL
Again, not putting down the VTC like some have done on here. Before you judge something, try it for yourself. I have and really liked it! It is a fun gadget and works! But with my mods...not worth the risk.

I have a 2013 V6 with the VTC and haven't had any issues. Put on about 10000 miles with it now and haven't had any problems. Granted, I don't have any other performance mods (besides an axel-back) but I drive with it on sp9 every day. I've heard a theory that some of the VTC's might have faulty wiring that cause this. I would be interested to see what the model years are of the people having problems, could have something to do with some years not others.

The reason I was disagreeing with people is that the OP stated the code and what it read. Based on that I disagreed with the VTC being the culprit. After reading what that code actually is, "Throttle/pedal position sensor/switch D/E voltage correlation", and not "Electronic fuel control system", I would totally agree the VTC is the culprit.

Seems as though with the money back guarantee they have, you should cash in on it.

YOU COULD POSSIBLY BE RIGHT THOUGH. IT MAY JUST TAKE TIME FOR THAT THING TO CONFUSE THE COMPUTER. I ADMIT I HAVE BEEN RIDING WITH THE THING ON 0 SINCE THE MESSAGE AND CEL CLEARED. I HAVE NOT RAISED THE NUMBERS AT ALL YET. ITS RAINING HERE SO I CAN'T PUT IT ON SP ANYTHING JUST YET. BUT IM CURIOUS TO SEE IF IT ACTUALLY DOES HAPPEN AGAIN. IF WE CANT RUN IT HIGHER THAN SP3 THEN THIS THING IS A WASTE . I LOVE IT AND ITS A FUN MOD BUT I ONLY FEEL A DIFFERENCE ON SP7. THE REASON WHY I FOCUSED ON GAS NEXT WAS BECAUSE I WAS TOLD MY FUEL SYSTEM WAS OFF THOUGH.

ANOTHER REASON IM THINKING IT MIGHT COME BACK IS BECAUSE MY BUDDY BOUGHT A VTC. WELL SOON AS HE INSTALLED IT HE GOT A REDUCED ENGINE POWER MESSAGE AND HIS CEL CAME ON BEFORE HE EVEN DROVE THE CAR. TURNED OUT HE CALIBRATED IT WRONG. ONCE HE RE-CALIBRATED THE VTC, AND THE MESSAGE WENT AWAY AND HIS CAR BEEN DRIVING FINE SINCE.

SO IM CONFUSED. THE MESSAGE MEANS SOMETHING ELSE? THE LADY TOLD ME IT WAS MY ELECTRONIC FUEL SYSTEM THROWING THE CODE. COULD THE CODE MEAN MULTIPLE THINGS OR YOU THINK SHE PROBABLY DIDN'T KNOW WHAT SHE WAS SAYING. IM TRYING TO FIGURE THIS OUT LOL.

The code you listed in your original post was the code I posted in my previous thread, she was incorrect.

Don't think that because the code went away after you turned the car off or pulled fuses that its really gone.

The computer logs data constantly, and some codes don't get thrown until certain conditions are present for a certain amount of time, along with other factors.

Like, you might have had to been running at least X rpm for X amount of time, after the car had been running for X amount of time, with temps up to X. And if you pull a fuse, you may start everything over, which means, it may not even be ready to do what I just said until you've completed some other set of cycles.

Clearing a code doesn't get rid of the problem. Also, bad gas is not the issue here, forget about that.

This is an open and shut case, you are having a correlation problem with the voltage between your pedal and throttle position sensors. You installed a device that screws with your pedal and throttle position sensors/voltage, this is obviously the controller causing the codes.

I had this problem come and go for a few months with the vtc installed. I tried recalibration a few times and would hope it would just go away. I kept happening randomly and then clearing up. After I got sick of it and took it out it has never happened again. Furthermore, after LTs, a bo white TB and a CAI I have excellent throttle response and do not miss the VTC.

Yea after having it for a few months now I don't really think I need it. Whether or not it's the culprit I think Im going to sell it. Its a fun mod though. Just not seeing a valid reason to keep it.
