My girlfriends family not only owns a chevy dealership, they own the finance company too! So I was thinking camaro as a replacement. But I have some questions...

Trying to decide between v6 and v8. As an RX8 owner I'm used to getting 15-18 MPG on premium fuel, but would like to get more. I drive a LOT.

I've heard people say on this forum that the v6 doesn't really get much better mileage than the v6. Since initial purchase price isn't an issue for me, the only real concern is gas mileage.

Question: I know that the V8 has AFM, or cylinder deactivation. Does the v6 also have this? I know that a lot of you guys try and tune OUT AFM, but for me, I want to know the opposite: can you turn it ON or OFF at will? Can you put the V8 camaro into ECO mode and drive it like a cruz? Then when you want to put the pedal to the metal, switch it off? I know the new stingray has this ability...

I know I'm going to get a lot of hate and "use the search feature" but I've been searching around and the only thing people talk about is tuning AFM out. For me, I actually like it, because if you can turn it on, it would make the big V8 a bit more livable as an EDD. And like I said, I'm used to paying a premium in gas to drive a sports car. I'm just looking to get somewhere in the 20's. Mid 20's would be nice, 30 would be great but I know that's a dream.

What can you Camaro Bro's tell me? What advice can you give? Should I go V8 or buy a v6?

Wish the new ones were available, but unfortunately, can't wait that long for a 6th gen.
They own the dealer and ALLY BANK.
What are you waiting for then , put the ring on it ,,,,,just like that song says

You need to learn how to drive that thing . My 1LS accelerates like a freight train once I'm in second and 3rd gear . It may not be a V8 but the V6 moves very well .

For 2015, only the automatic V8 has AFM. For 2016, all Camaros, including the V6, will have AFM.

The Gen 5 Camaro with V6 is SLOW. Way too big a car for that engine.

I get 22 mpg for everyday driving with a V8. When I use the paddle shifters, the AFM shuts off the first time I downshift, and stays off.

You should get that checked out. I have the v6 (lfx) and I gotta watch my speedometer gettin on the highway, otherwise I tend to get get around 100mph before merging...

The Gen 5 v6 is faster than 80% of other vehicles on the road. With 323hp, the weight/power ratio is great. Have you been behind the wheel of one before you bash it?

Of course I have. A V6 test drive is what convinced me to get a V8.

I average 19 mpg and that's with city driving and highway driving. I also have the V8, tuned with headers and cai. I do not drive softly and I also don't always drive spirited. I'd go with the V8 because you will have great power for any situation and you can choose to drive slow or you can choose to drive fast.

The V8 will not be a disappointment especially if you're into power. I have met some people that got the V6 and they always tell me that if they could have afforded it they would have purchased the V8. So, if you can afford it, get yourself a loaded V8 and never look back.

Stay away from their finance company unless it's a major bank or credit union that advertises on TV. Trust me on this. Otherwise, do business with them.

Did you drive the V6 before or after the V8? I would expect it to feel slow right after a V8. Not so much before, unless your previous car was also something faster.

he is what is referred to on the internet as a troll. anybody saying a 323 HP car is slow is obviously trying to provoke a particular response from people in addition to bragging about owning a V8

It's pretty damn fast for a V6 plus you don't have to worry about anyone stealing it
