In 2060 maybe a 5th gen will have some resale value.

And I think that was the point of the Ops post.

And the numbers posted above, 700,000 1st gen yenkos or grand national Camaros were produced, right? The 'run-of-the-mill' Camaros produced that are still around command a fairly decent price if they were maintained/restored correctly.
Oh, and P.S. Yenkos *were* mass produced (SS models)-how else do you think they became Yenkos???

That was my attempt at sarcasm. Saying that not all the Camaros that were produced were Yenkos and the non-Yenkos are worth something. Plus Yenkos were just modified SS Camaros, so yes, they were indeed mass-produced in that sense.

And Yenkos were not mass produced. That's like saying an HSV GTS is a mass produced car just because Holden builds thousands of Commodores.

If there are still gasoline stations around then so you can actually put fuel in them!
With all the research and development in new fuel technologies I'm always wondering how convenient/easy it will be to fill a car with gasoline in the future. Alternative fuels and electric cars may become way more common by then. If the fuel source for a 5th gen isn't as readily available 50 or 60 years from now then all gasoline powered cars may become less valuable simply because it's a lawn ornament if you can put fuel in it to drive it! I'm sure many will think this idea will never happen but unless you have a time machine and can prove that it doesn't....nobody knows for sure.

And this is the point I was trying to make-they may not be worth the 'same' money, but they may be worth 'something'

short sightedness, people just have trouble imagining cars they experienced new ever being collectible. Dad still marvels at people paying 100 grand for tri 5 chevys he bought new for 2900 and could have bought dozens of at 100 a piece 10 years later.

The Gen 5 will have it's place in history. Given it's story, the model being out of poduction and making the comeback of the century, as time passes, in general, they will become collector cars.
Will they ever have the cred that the Gen 1 is getting today? No. Why? Because Gen 1 was just that, the first, and that carries a lot of weight in the business of collector cars. |

Although nothing tops the Gen1s for looks, in my opinion, the Gen5s are definitely a close second. Everything in between is just "ho-hum" in my book. And the way folks are wrecking the Gen5s by not knowing how to handle the power or use their mirrors... in a decade or so a mint condition one will be pretty rare.
