Question for Auto ZL1's: D or M

Recently, I just started driving my ZL1 in the M (Sport mode) without using the paddle shifters and liked the response on both acceleration and de-acceleration with the tranny shifting. As this was a new "discovery" for me, any fellow members drive in this mode all the time and will it promote any faster wear & tear on the tranny?

I drive in sport mode almost exclusively. No aditonal wear that I know of. Hurts the mileage somewhat.

Yeah, I drive mine in M mode all the time too. It would start off in 2nd gear otherwise.

Never realized this but it explains the better acceleration feel in M.
Also, just started to use this method after my 10% pulley/damper/tune upgrade and my tuner suggested it.

If the car is tuned you will definitely start seeing a difference in mileage. I began driving in D because I noticed the gas mileage loss in M due to getting into my power band earlier.

I use "D" until oil warms up (keeps rpm's lower) and then "M" and mostly tap shift as well.

What would be the best for the drag strip? M & PTM 5? I'm still trying to get used to my auto and can't seem the best way to launch the car on street or strip.

PTM 4 at the Drag with street tires.

PTM 5 with drag radial tires.

Does the car make less power in non PTM 3-4 modes all the time, or does it only affect power cut during cornering/etc when traction is lost? Just curious when you're driving around the street if straight line performance with traction is reduced by not being in PTM 3-4. Does the tranny shift harder or differently in PTM 3-4 vs other modes or just the same?
