Ok last one I promise!
So I currently have a 3012 ZL1. It's great, but my monthly payment is a bit high, it sucks up a ton of gas, but yeah it's like a super car and I love it.
I have a friend that works at ford dealership and I test drove a brand new mustang gt and it drove great. I can actually get into the car, base model that is, for 30k. He is giving me about 3 k off sticker price. I'm wondering, am I crazy if I do this? I my ZL1 has 12k miles on it and the mustsng is brand new. Mustsng will also get better gas mileage. I can also drive the mustsng basically all year round. Tired and everything else cheaper too. In the end, my monthly payment would be about 150 less also. What do you guys think?? |

Go for it... Enjoy the new car and cheaper payment. No reason to be, as my father would say, "car poor." As far as comparing the two vehicles, well, you should already know the differences.

I mean it would be nice to have a car that's brand new. Better gas mileage and much cheaper upkeep. I fell in love with the ZL1 when I first bought it but here in Philly you can't even use its potential at all. I think having a brand new car that still is a monster of a performer but more economical and cheaper is a good move for me

Even if gas was an issue, the total cost of gas to you over a year would increase maybe $200-300 Thats almost nothing in the grand scheme of things. Also saddened that your willing to switch to a mustang for an extra $150 a month. They would have to pay me $300 a month to even walk on a dealer's lot to look at one.

the new mustangs are nice so if the say $200 a month you save is more important than the bit of perfomance you lose go for it. I mean I have to be honest I can have alot of fun in 5.0, 1le, etc I do just wish for a bit more go pedal in both of them. milage does suck in this car though and the stock tires definatly limit me driving it certain times of the year.

Well you do understand that the Ford forum website probably sucks and the people on it aren't going to be as nice as us Camaro guys. But all the power to you. You gotta do what's best for you in the end.

The truth is if you can't afford the ZL1, you can't afford the ZL1. Simple as that.
I would search around for something less expensive than a new Mustang GT though. $150 a month doesn't seem like it's worth the trouble, but I don't know your finances. |

Since you asked I will give my opinion. If $150 a month on the payment will make a bit of difference on how much money you have then you can't afford either.
You are cutting yourself way too thin apparently. Also, taking another hit with depreciation of a brand new mustang is not moving in the right direction financially. A wise man once told me "never buy something that you can't afford 2 of." If you follow that you will not feel financial stress. Financial stress kills the enjoyment of owning anything. It's with you 24/7 and isn't healthy. Just my .02.
