Is that a spare tire or a cover that goes where the spare would be? I thought RS models didn't come with a spare.

Looks like it will blow you out of the car .Just one thought on the boxes, you should have used MDF board in place of plywood.MDF is much stronger and will not flex giving you tighter bass.JMO

ok its all right. the wiring install looks cheap. why did they splice and use electrical type. and what was with the power outlet. plus no shape to the box with a board across the top. well sorry for being rude but crappy installs are not me.

Well its not finished yet but the board across is required to keep the subs in one place. The wiring was heat shrinked after those photos were taken along with 30+ tye raps. You cannot see any wires in this installation at this point of time and once I get the new custom carpet for the floor, things will be looking fantastic. I cant completely fassen the sub boxes in place untill the 6x9s are mounted. I need to make sure GM can access the front speaker wires while doing the switch. The wiring I use is also 14aw industrial wire, I never skimp and this is with small signal as well. When I see thin wire used on installs, I call that cheap as your modification when splicing into other wires is useally always the weakest link. I electrical tape EVERYTHING, this is a Camaro for god sakes, not a Civic and I will not except any electrical failure or chance of contact with something conductive.

BTW, MDF is horrible for durability and will rot over time. 12 ply 3/4" plywood is equal to 1" MDF for sound capacity. Fill with RJ-15 insulation (not polyfill as that stuff is cheap) and you'll have maximum performance.

System is 100% finished now, the box was re-adjusted and the floor was carpeted with two pieces of carpet so that I could still access the spare tire.

The 6x9s were replaced and food for thought, you literly destroy them when going to after market! The components were also replaced by competition after market Premiers.

I will post pics as soon as I can.

are you gonna remove that bar holding the two sub boxes in place? You should put a face board in between the two boxes to make it look more seemless and screw the boxes from the inside to the floor. Maybee mount your capacitor on the face between the two sets off speakers. I have built several iasca winning cars and cars featured in car audio magazine. If you need any help with customization ideas let me know. Anyone in sc want to do a huge system, let me know. we will go nutts

my whole cheaply done was cause the wires looked spliced then twisted together whit electrical tape wraped our them. and yes i understand its a camaro its a chevy things happen for no reason lol. NAW i figured you were not done but my concern was the wiring. Also size doesnt matter if ran wrong or hooked up wrong. i dont get why does gm need to get to your speakers? or did i miss understand something there.

just noticed you lived in canada. why didn't you go with a real company like audison or hertz. one or two of there subs and there high end components will eat pioneer up. shit i have on 12" herts in a small fiberglass box with 155 watts going to it and i sound better then this guy with 3 pioneer 12". just a question of why pioneer

The 6X9s actually needed to be cut out for the new 6x9s to mount correctly. The bostons are now garbage as the surround has to be broken to harness the new speakers. This plus the fact that its certified to take my car apart unlike if I did that myself. I made an attempt at both and failed so I just paid them $250 to rip that horrible BA stuff out and plop in the Premiers.

The Pioneer system just simply rocks and I'm yet to hear anything that sounds better.. and I've heard it all... believe me.

btw, did I tell you how much I love electrical tape? That stuff is just awesome for installs. I know some people that coat entire wires with it to extra shield to avoid any potential interference, location pending.

For those of you who havnt already seen these pics, here is the trunk now!

I can also easily access the spare tire with next to no effort and I can still send long objects like skis or golf clubs through to the hole with the backseat folded down. This was my dream setup and today it gets accomplished!

ok that answers one of my questions.

now as far as hearing them all, you did not like hertz or avi! since i have put that in my car all the other speakers just sound lazy. i know i am talking alot of crap and sorry not really trying to be a hater. you did do a good job on your install, i have just seen other ways and myself dont use alot of electrical tape unless its covering a butt connector, or holding a group of wires together.

but as far as hertz and avi look them up and see if you can find a shop that has them and demo, not saying get rid of yours and buy just hear them.
