Went to the track this weekend.

Traction was not an issue, bogging out was, as AGP said, you could walk my 60's LOL

Was worried about chunking the rear until the new one is in, I have sold the one thats in the car, so it wouldn't be smart to break someone else's toy!

A few updates, I got the MSD BAP installed, it helped more than the ECS, but I still wont be able to turn up the boost like planned.

Decided to go with AGP's new system with the dual 450 pumps. For the price and installation details, its hard to beat.

Still waiting on my rear end parts to come in. Made a decision to take a road trip back home and visit some friends, and to drop the car off to FSP, for the rear end install and fuel system upgrade....Oh yea gunna do the AGP CAI then too, Matt will put it back on the dyno and were turning up the boost.

Not sure if I am going to tow the car down with my truck or drive it down and enjoy the trip!

Just the other day, I started getting a small miss, like the plugs felt loaded. It would come and go, it was not missing all the time. I was thinking plug or injector. Thursday the 3rd It had been a day since the car had acted up, and I kinda forgot all about it. I got on it when I was out at Lowes, didn't floor it, but certainly put the car into boost. When I pulled in the driveway I heard what you can hear in the video.

Sounds like I bent a pushrod, or broke a rocker. Took the valve covers off and pulled out the pushrods. The rockers are not broken, springs are fine, and pushrods are straight. To be honest, It sounds all valvetrain to me, usually the noise that I hear coming out of the bottom end is a lot deeper. Anybody got any guesses as to what it is?

It does sound like valvetrain to me. But I'm not sure... Have you asked FSP to see what suggestions they have?

Yea, I'm talking with Matt now about the car. Gotta be a lifter, wondering if I have damage to the cam.

So went a little farther and pulled the manifold off, to remove the valley plate, so I could get a look at the lifters, or a few of them anyway. And everything looks good there too. Its starting to look like lower engine damage.

My plan was next year or the year after that to forge the motor and turn up the boost, I guess I'll just have to do that a little sooner than planned. I don't think I'll make Cfest this year, won't be the same with the car sitting at home in the garage and no camaro at the fest!....

So the next round of mods are as follows:

416 with forged internals
AGP's new fuel system
new fuel lines
ZL1 rear end install, to include driveshaft and axles
RPM bolt on, or FSP custom built roll bar

Thanks for reading and following along with my build.

Sounds like a good idea.

Seen a local get a noise like that. Bent a rod. Then again it was ~900hp stock ls3.

I will contend to my dying day, that the reason for the failure was that when I punched it I was most likely down a cylinder, and the failure was made worse by that. Not from having too much power for a stock long block.

I have thought about how much tuning was done to the car since it left FSP, and the addition of a second meth nozzle, I had to be pushing close to 780 790 ish. Regardless, it's a moot point now.

I will say this, if a rod is bent, its the weirdest sounding one I have ever heard.

Wow, sorry to hear all this. My biggest fear. Your car will be a supernatural beast instead of just a beast after that engine build. Hope it goes smooth.

It is what it is, I don't like it, but it's just part of the game. In a way I'm glad it was my fault it broke and not a case of the parts not being able to handle the power. Plus it gives me the excuse to do the engine now instead of in two years.

A little update, about three weeks ago I finally got all my drive line parts in. DSS drive shaft, DSS level 4 half shafts, and differential offset bushings, along with my aluminum sub frame bushings. Not wild about them being level 4. I was at the time not too concerned with the downgrade. But being turbo, I should be ok off the line, its the SC guys that seem to have most of the failures.

I have a list of new mods to do, and still need to get the car to FSP for the motor. I think, either September or October ill drive it down on a trailer.

Thinking of holding off on the forged short block for a little while and see if what I have now can be fixed for a reasonable price. Unfortunately with buying the new house, money is real tight.

Again, it all depends on what we find wrong with the motor, that will dictate the future of the power plant.

After the transport driver figured out how to get the car into reverse, to unload it, (long story about how ill never use that transport company again), the car finally made it to FSP last Saturday.

Needing the money for the cars repairs, and having already sold the rear and axles. The guys tore into the car early Monday. They installed the ZL1 rear, HE differential offset bushings, solid subframe bushings, new 1000hp DSS half shafts, and aluminum DSS driveshaft. On tuesday they had the stock diff shipped and today they shipped off the DSS 1400hp axles.

After listening to the car running, Matt thinks it may be a rod bearing, and the motor is scheduled for teardown as soon as they can. I am anxious to see just how much a stupid mistake will cost me.

Here are some pics of the work just completed.

Remind me what you did that might have caused the failure?

Also I have a friend that transports cars on a single or double car trailer. Should have told me I'd have gotten you a quote.
