i'm the same way. Got the SS but damn, for all the options I paid for, most of which I don't use, I could have just got the much superior 1LE package. Sucks.

Yeah the one I looked at had a few things I could have done without this time around. Not sure I need the Sunroof, and even the NAV. I don't use it that often and I have my phone. Though the NAV is pretty reasonably priced. Would rather have the 1LE than the RS.

I will keep looking and biding my time. They didn't have the CRT in stock and would have had to move it in from another dealership which they were saying would affect the price. Perhaps I should find out where it was and drive there.

Why? They are excellent daily drivers for what they are. What a shame to spend $40,000 on a car to have it rot in a garage, depreciating just as quickly as someone who actually drives theirs.

If you're going to buy a nice car, understand it is a colossal expense and a rapidly depreciating asset, so you better enjoy the hell out of it.

Stock SS's are better drag cars, have superior transmission gearing for street and strip and have a more comfortable ride quality for daily driving. I like the looks of the 1LE, but unless you are taking it to a track for that kind of driving regularly, a plain old SS will outperform. Most people on this site will never take their car to a track. Those that do will mostly go to a drag strip a couple times. Very few actually track their car. I bet the number of people here who track their cars are <3%.

Like the Black with Red Stripes. If I picked a different color than CRT that may be one of them. Though, I had black cars in the past and such a pain to keep clean. But when they are clean, boy do they look nice.

The dealer had a few all Blacks on the lot that I could have got a little lower, but if I am going to do this again. I am definitely going to get the color I want.

V8 > V6. I made the jump. Kinda wasted money on not doing it sooner. Get a 1LE if you can. The gears makes the car feel alive.

There is a company called Hellion out there, many a night I have been one beer away from having a big box show up at my door.

When I traded my 2012 2LS last year for a 2SS/RS yes, my payments went up. I went from a car that cost $19k to a car that listed for $40k. However, my insurance only went up about $20/mth (I called before signing the papers just to make sure) and my MPG only went down slightly. With my 2LS I was able to reliably get 22mpg even when I was having some fun. With my 2SS I got 19.5mpg when I was babying it. I'm feeling a bit more comfortable with it now and am having a bit more fun with it and I'm still getting 18.5mpg in it. On long road trips I've gotten as high as 27mpg. Yes, premium gas (91 in OK) is roughly $.40 more per gallon than 87 but at about 18 gallons a fillup, that's only $7.20 more each time. I usually fill up about once every 10 days.

I might be a bit biased here but CRM is definitely one of the nicest colors on this car. Stick with it.

I only had my 2012 2LS for about 4 months when I traded it in on a new 2014 2SS/RS last year. All in I took it in the shorts, as I knew I would, but I haven't regretted it. Just find a good dealer with a good salesman. Walk away from the folks that only want to talk monthly payments. Stay with the folks that are talking trade-in value and looking for discounts and rebates. To help me get into my 2SS my salesman even went to his advertising budget and worked some back doors to get me better terms on my loan.

why get a 1LE if you don't track the car? I see so many people want to/actually upgrade and the car is just a daily driver with no track use... what was the point? A wrap on the hood? The wheels?
Just wondering.

That being said, I don't race/track the car but I'd love an SS. I love my car but I'll always love extra power. But it's not the best idea for me right now and I know if I upgraded or bought another, I wouldn't be tracking or anything still so not much of a point in doing so... cars plenty fast for regular driving. Plus I paid her off within a year and a half... All mine and that's better than leasing an SS or having payments IMO

Driving it 2-3 times a week isnt really rotting, I rather commute 6-7 days a week with the (overall) cheaper v6 car.

I have 10k and had to have the convertible. Never regretted it.

I really did not think I would be one of those who regretted buying the V6, maybe I should not say regret, but if I had it to do over again I would get the V8, I'm going to wait until the 2016's hit the streets and see how much difference the new LT1 is vs the L99. Then I will probably be shopping. The V6 is nice and the 2LT will hold me for now but I just really want that extra kick. Would have cost me 8K to 10K last year, now will probably cost me closer to 16K difference.

Choco, we are yet to track our 1LE. That day will come, but until it does, there is not one single curve or corner that I go through that I do not know that the correct choice was made. You either appreciate and enjoy awesome handling or you don't, and from your comments it's not very important to you. You like drag cars, as do I. It's why we hang on to the big block '69, and yes, due to the gearing, suspension and tire, a standard SS might outperform a 1LE at the drag strip, but that same standard SS is going to get its lunch handed to it on a nice twisty road. They really are two different cars. Pick the right tool for what you want to do. For what it's worth, we would not consider buying a gen 5 camaro until the 1LE package was introduced. I was not at all impressed during the test drive of the standard SS.
