Same here, only about 1/2 qt. I thought I would use more when I refilled it.

The shop that installed mine used Synthetic oil. It would sometimes make a screeching noise going around a tight right hand turn 30-40mph mild acceleration. Talked to Eaton and then asked shop to change oil.

Yep conventional 85w 90 for tru tracs...no modifier needed...doesnt need it with the carbon fiber clutches. Synthetic shouldnt cause problems...but it could over time and if u need to warranty it they wont since what they recommended wasnt used.
I think it has to do with the clutches...synthetic may not allow them to heat properly, or may be "too" slick. Im not sure just educated guesses.

I think the argument against synthetics is they are too slippery and prevent correct bias function. There may be a synthetic that's similar to conventional but Torsen users will probably just have to suck up the frequent oil changes during heavy duty usage.

The Z28 diff cooler setup is already available for those concerned with the high temps of standard fluid in track use. Pace Performance hooked me up the first month the Z28 rolled off the assembly line. If I had waited a bit I could have gotten the whole pumpkin a bit cheaper than my 1LE diff plus eaton install; then just ordered the lines. Oh well, if I hadn't spent it my wife would have.

I got the lid and lines all separately. But now you can get the pumpkin and then just order the lines plus 3 small brackets. Install is easy.

I actually have a copy of the cooler kit's installation manual that lists all parts, but it's still hard to know for sure what is needed, and what is not.

Amsoil replied and stated the severe gear diff fluids indeed have additive, so they would not work well.
EDIT: The fluid below has the additive. I found this, though: 75W-90 Long Life Synthetic Gear Lube http://www.amsoil.com/shop/by-produc...?code=FGRQT-EA I don't see "No need to add friction modifiers" statement on this one. If it works, it might prove to be a long lasting solution. I just replied to Amsoil's email and asked about this fluid, too. FYI, Amsoil displays the severe gear fluid as well as this long life variant for both SS and Z/28. I wonder if they know about Z/28's different diff. Does the user's manual call for a different fluid for Z/28 diff? Perhaps GM designed it to work with any fluid, unlike Eaton.

I can get you the full parts diagrams, photos, and description in a day or two. Unfortunately I'm still deployed and the ordering paperwork with all the part numbers is 7,000 miles away. I've got the contact info for the vendor that got me everything and he can get you squared away.
