Maybe Bigtime was talking about the GT350. I had heard rumors of a 750 hp GT500 but I've seen nothing in print.

Ok, I may have mis-spoken, a quick search on Google showed quite a bit of info on a possible 2017 GT500.

I would love a 750hp gt500. Mine was only 550hp and it was a beast. I can't imagine 750 in a factory built car.

That thing will be a beast. One thing to keep in mind is that it is an "after market" option from Shelby America and not a Ford factory produced GT500. Sort of like what Lingenfelter and others offer for the GM cars.

I was just going to post this. While I can appreciate a car like this, I would rather see and own a factory version like Dodge has done with the Hellcat.

I just went to the ford store and that is what they told me. I cannot provide a link. Maybe they were thinking a shelby super snake as someone said. I will try today to go back by there and clear this up as soon as I can.

That is why I posted it, someone probably heard Shelby and 750HP and thought it was the GT500. Notice in my post I didn't call it a GT500.

And it is a 50k dollar package. Imagine what a ZL1 would be with 50 grand of hp added?

it will be interesting to see what I think it of it. I think I will flip it and buy a the lowly 526hp GT350 though unless I like it more than I think I will.

I just wonder where this stops. it like horsepower chicken who flinches first. It though the 662 GT500 would be the king for a wile ha ha.

it funny how 500hp was what our 10 second braket car in high school probably had and now you can by a zillion cars with that stock.
History repeats itself. Horse power wars began to deteriate in the late 60's with only select cars maintaining their beast qualities. Me thinks that the HP is getting a little out of hand and social pressure will start applying pressure to the manufacurers. Who needs 500-800 HP to go to the store? I hope I am wrong but except for the Z06 HP is declining, no formal mention of the GT 500, ZL1, or the Z28, and the Hellcat is on BO.

Emissions regulations and increasing fuel economy standards should slow down the hp wars, but with hybrid technology going the way it is, I think the future is going to remain bright for us hp junkies. I do agree though that we may be pushing the limits of what the average person can handle.

Me, hell, I need 1000hp to make it worth my while of going to the grocery store. Otherwise, I will continue to let the wife continue to take her 500hp to the grocery store

I highlighted your statement. I am pretty sure that Ford and GM have something similar on paper to what Mc Laren and Porsche have done with the P1, and 918 respectively. It will be the best of both worlds, the ability to run fossil fuel, but with a kick ass electric motor drive for extra HP. It should have the ability to recover kinetic brake energy or charge the battery while using the gasoline engine phase.

My HS car started life with a 190HP/250TQ 4 BBL 305 SBC . It was cool for Sophomore year until the nylon coating on the cam gear went bad, then I built a 350SBC with an aluminum Z28 intake some mild head work and a decent cam for the day. If I was to guess I would say it was north of 400HP and similar TQ into a TH350 with some 3.73 and posi. The suspension was crap and the brakes were small... It was a lot of fun though. It's all a joke compared to what we have today...
