Just ordered mine. FYI for all the people ordering some http://www.performanceplustire.com is the cheapest I have found. They are on sale until the 28th it says. Summit will price match as well but so far these guys have been nice to deal with.

Where is your evidence of this? The M/T is actually quite a bit heavier tire than the Cooper, so I don't think you're right.

If it was the same tire with a slightly different shoulder then the tires would be pounds apart in weight.

The Cooper RS3-S is 31 lbs and the M/T street comp is 34 lbs, I don't think a simple tread design difference is going to make up for 3 lbs in each tire.

Not saying your wrong, just saying the evidence doesn't support that it's a rebranded Cooper, and yes I know Cooper owns M/T.

Also, unfortunately for some of us, we have to track on street tires, and if you really want to get down to it, no street tire is going to compete with a track tire. You just have to drive slower. So I don't think it's fair to say they'll overheat and fall off, because any street tire will do that if you over drive them.

I feel like you're passing judgement on a tire you've never used before here. You run 305 Hankooks on your car, so I seriously doubt you've run any Cooper tire.

i have attached a photo of 4 mickey thompsons next to my car (305's)

in addition i will leave you with this link which may or may not work. If not, i will just quote the Mickey Thompson guy.

http://www.yellowbullet.com/forum/sh...d.php?t=554679

my overheat statement came from forum reviews of the tire. google it if you'd like. i won't put all the links here.

Don't get me wrong, it's a nice tire at a nice price. Even the Michelin PSS falls off on track duty.

I did have trouble finding some info on how they perform on track, so the link is helpful.

I would agree if you seriously want to get around a track as quick as possible that no street tire is going to accomplish that. From my time here though, usually when somebody asks how they will work on a road course they probably have nearly no experience with track time. So if they need a tire for a DD that might do one track event a year, then obviously buying track tires doesn't make sense. That was really my point.

I have heard the PSS gets greasy on track, that's one reason I decided against them and picked up 4 275/40 M/Ts one because of price, and two because I didn't find anything too negative about them.

They will probably be on the car for VIR in April, but I don't push my car super hard since it's my DD and we'll see how they go. Worst case, they were cheap, so it won't be a terrible thing if they don't hold up long.

The other option was the Continentals but I kept reading about how the sidewalls were soft, and I want something stick for a 3900 lb car going around an autocross course and suspect the extra weight in these tires is to stiffen them up.

Basically, my point being, I thought the they will melt and fall off comment probably won't hold true for the average person on this forum. There are a few of us that are really getting into or are into track time and autoX etc, but there's not a lot. So I think the better way to go about it would be to ask how much track experience they have and how fast they wanna go, because I bet for most of the guys here, a street tire would do double duty until they get fast.

Even "slow" guys will notice a tire that starts to fall off. I'm one of them. Just keep it in mind. the MT's aren't bad tires, just don't expect too much out of them. Be safe.

long-term update on these tires for me... On the stock Pirelli rears I got about 40K miles riding them down til the belts peeked through, Iv got 20K miles on the Street Comps now and the tread is just about gone. I live in Ohio and drive on dusty dirty roads, I had expected them to last longer.
