they will resell your car with the condition known to the next owner that it was a buyback. they really don't lose much money.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Maybe, but it was getting to a point where I couldn't trust the car any longer :-(.

I've known LS3s with 2x the mileage, that still run quite strong, and haven't had this issue.

Glad to hear it worked out and they gave ya a fortune for a car with that many miles on it... but I think I would have tried another dealer, this one clearly wasn't interested in diagnosing the problem and was just throwing the same part at it over and over. After the 2nd try they really should have tried something else.

I doubt they even replaced the pump to begin with. Sounds like the relief valve was unsticking at the dealership, so they probably just called it fixed and sent you on your way.

Believe it or not, some people actually use these cars as intended.. To drive often and enjoy.. 76,000 miles is nothing with today's cars.

Great story.. I had the same issue on a 2004 SSR that they could not fix. Did the buyback and gave me sticker price minus usage.. Truck on had 12000 miles on it.. So I walked away with a new 2500 HD Duramax Crew Cab for wheel drive in it's place..

GM was great and pretty quick on getting this done..

Too bad this story doesn't clear up the oil pressure dilemma you were having and shine specificity as to what the problem actually was. Surely GM must have some idea. As mentioned above, hard to imagine the pump valve sticking repeatedly after the dealer claims they replaced it. Anyway, glad to hear you were compensated without much ado.

Was my daily driver. I wouldn't have had it any other way.

No it doesn't, but I was smitten with the 6th gen when it was announced, so giving up my 45th was made a little easier knowing that there is SOME light at the end of the tunnel.

My family's mechanic suspected as much as well, but I couldn't prove it.

Well when I was working I was putting 20k a year on each car I owned. It added up quickly.

*Shrug* It's hard to say. I've done business with this dealership for years, and I have had a good relationship with the service writer for a long time too.

I've seen something very similar happen- there was a run of faulty sensors.
I'm just starting a buyback on one of my cars (not the Camaro) and it's going very smoothly. They are giving me a LOT towards another car vs. buying out via check. Getting a great deal.
