Usually, you will have your pick of lawyers because you mailbox will be flooded. They will make it so you won't have to show up to court and they will negotiate with the prosecuting attorney to reduce the speed. In NC they will let you do a Prayer for Judgement, But a 3 year period has to pass before you or anyone on your insurance can ask for a PFJ. You can just google PFJ for your state.

And commercial insurance will hold it against you for 5 years. Over those 5 years, you'll pay MUCH more than any lawyer would cost.

Which is the same as having your rates raised. It is a substantial hit too.

Well I just called State Farm (where I've been a customer for 20+ years and have almost 10 vehicles insured).

Per my State Farm agents, I could get a speeding ticket with 2 points or less once every 3 years and it CANNOT affect my insurance rates. They said this is a national policy.

That's the same thing I said...... if you get any moving violation, it takes three years before your record is clear again. Which is basically what they told you too, just worded differently.

Quoting myself..

Here is a link... Scroll down to where it says "Good Driving Discount"

Is there such thing as a 2 point speeding ticket? I thought most states do 3, 4, and 6... for speeding.

Here's NY's point system:

My last one was 1986 or 1987. Drove right into a regular sting that I didn't know about. 68 in a 55. It was a temporary speed reduction area and the local yokels set up shop for $$$$. I had three people in a two seater and the cop asked me how many passengers is that car supposed to hold? My reply was " it has two seats."
