Here's a pic of one in my V6 Camaro on track days. I just moved this to the ZL1 but haven't taken picture of the FE in the ZL1 yet.
I keep a small extinguisher in my car but I have to tell you that most of the fires I have seen, that little extinguisher would be absolutely worthless. If you get an engine fire with fuel involved it takes quite a bit to put it out. See if I can link one example.....

Are you planning on keeping yours as a collectors car? Why so few miles? Do you ever get the chance to enjoy what you have?

What's happening Dave? I can tell you this, every time I get in my ZL1 I just start grinning. Can't control it. Lol. I really look forward to driving it. It is a challenge some times beings its a stick car and my brain doesn't work as fast as it used to, but it sure is fun pulling those gears. The mag ride is really a wonderful thing. I had an '11 SS A6 before having this car and I always felt that the ride was a little on the rough side. Even so, I still enjoyed it. Then I test drove the ZL1. What a difference! I really, really enjoy the ride, the power, the sound, and the looks of this car. Not to mention the performance. The reliability factor even when heavily modded is testament to its toughness. All these things ,in my book, add up to it being a keeper. Very rarely do I see another one on the road. Yet another reason. The 2016 Camaro looks to be quite a nice piece. But its not a ZL1. even if it is getting close in performance. I think I will have mine for quite some time.

Wow I can relate to this. I drove an SS and hated the ride. I drove an auto ZL1 and hated the gearing. I drove the car I have now and said yeah! This is it! I even drove a GT-R, Corvette, and CTS-V but this one was by far the best for what I wanted. Amazingly enough it was also the least expensive of those. Although not needed, proven affordable modification can easily make the ZL1 better unlike the expensive maintenance and upgrades for the GT-R or even the Corvette. I too see myself keeping the ZL1 for a long time. Gen 6 ZL1 camaro? Probably not. But if they put the LT4 setup in a CTS-V wagon I'd gladly trade in my gutless Mazda CX-9.

When I purchased new in 2012, thought I'd be keeping her forever. Added some really nice bolt ons then took to the dyno for tuning. 620/600 a wicked combination. Almost 3 years later and the Z has 1505 mile! I'm going to sell because I'm not using her. Just too much time working.....

It does sound like a wicked combination, it's just a pity someone else will probably be enjoying it more than you. That car would not stay on the market for long if the price is right. Do you plan on a replacement?

Special car... How special?

I am afraid the only way to find out how truly special the ZL is would be to let it go...

It LOOKS enough different to get comments like: is that the NEW Camaro? And looks wise, I'm not sure that the Gen6 can be twerked enough to temp me.

A 50th anniversary ZL might do it, but HP and handling mods on the Gen5 ZL1 might make it the King of all the Camaro's for the foreseeable future.

FULL DISCLOSURE: I'm 67...

I plan on keeping mine. The ZL1 is my favorite car I have owned and I like the First Gen body lines. But everything is for sale at the right price.
