20x10 +35mm and lots of camber
Has anyone checked to see how much camber can be run with a 20x10 +35mm wheel?
I've been eyeing some really cheap wheels on clearance but they're 20x10 +40mm, which should be fine on the back, but the front is another ball game, I already have some extended studs and 5mm spacers, which would essentially make them +35. I have a very strong suspicion though that it still won't work. I'm currently running -2.1 camber in the front.

I run 20x10,5 all around 35 offset/rear and 30 custom machined offset front. No issues at all!

So that makes your backspacing in the front 177mm looks like, how much camber do you have on the front? The only reason I have the spacer is to get some more room from the spring perch because Koni struts suck. I was actually clearing the strut body even with stock 40mm offset but your setup would mean 9mm closer to the strut body. Not sure mine would clear with the camber I have on it.

I have no idea about the camber! You should be ok with the setup you're planning to run, take it to a decent alignment shop and you'll be good to go.

I'm currently using the Pedders camber plate(JPSS original design). I set the camber plate to (1) notch/hash mark outboard from center. Then, set -1.1* at the strut. R888 285/35 is about 1/4" from the strut. Then, max the camber plate while still accessing the hex screws from the strut tower opening. This gets me another -1.5*.
Tire only rubs on rear frame when wheels turned full to lock. Slightly toe in on street alignment, but can see toe out when push camber plate max inbound. TSW 20x10 35mm squared setup using r888 285/35r20. My front CCW 20x10 using PSS 285/35r20 doesn't rub on street or max camber settings. But I believe CCWs are 33 or less since strut clearance is greater. Just re-read your post... Koni's... Those spring perches are huge like OE. I'm running Pedders XAs(BC). Many coilovers that use 2.5" springs should clear, but not sure about those Konis. if you're racing, stay away from the cheap cast wheels. Lot of guys has fit TSW 35 offsets, but not sure how many with Konis. If they work with the OE strut at OE height, may work with Konis. May need to test fit some sizes from friends or a shop. Good luck. |

Yeah, the Koni's for some reason the spring perch is lower, but running a 35 series tire should easily clear it instead of a 40 series.
Thanks for the info, it sounds like without plates it would likely rub at -2.1 camber, the wheels were Enkeis, so even if they're cast I would hope they're decent quality, at least on par with OEMs. The downside is they're no lighter, so I only gain the benefit of being able to run a 285/35 tire which opens up my options much better to a decent autoX tire.
