So sorry to hear for the folks at the plant they build a fine car and I appreciate their craftsmanship and their attention to detail with my Camaro and all the others they have built, I wish them all the best and hope they get a new car to build at the plant.

I just read somewhere in the last few days that there were going to be no forced layoffs due to losing the camaro line. They said all of the job reductions were worked out with early retirement buyouts and other means? Might be wrong but thats what i read

I never like to hear about good workers loosing their jobs. Isn't it funny how companies F with people's lives without a second thought. They'll hire a bunch of folks at the new place and get people's hopes up and somewhere down the road they'll decide that place isn't profitable any more and kick those people to the curb. I guess it's always been that way. Not picking on GM. They all do it. Our government has a lot to do with it too. We are just pawns for the very rich to play with.

Maybe you need to take geography again. Last time I checked Canadians where Canadians and Americans where Americans. Both living on the North American continent. Why do so many get that wrong? What are they teaching in schools these days. I suppose Mexicans that live in Mexico are Americans too. I suppose Russians wouldn't mind being called Asians then.

I don't care if they built my car or widgets, I don't care if the are in Canada or China I don't like seeing anyone who doesn't deserve it put out off work.
It makes sense that they are moving the 2016 Camaro to same plant as the rest the cars on the new platform. But was the new platform picked so they could leave the Oshawa Plant with justified cause. It is funny that this is happening at the same time as the union contract is up. Seems like they maybe playing hardball with either the Union or the government to see if they can get what they want to return with a future product line. Who's right who's wrong I have no Idea. My guess is GM looks at it as the union put the screws to them when they had the upper hand. The Union see's it as we can finally get what we deserve as we have the leverage. GM now see it as we will give you a new line if you give us a contract that we can work with and make profits on. The Union see's that as they are trying to take money out of their pockets that we desire just to get higher profits to raise stock prices so the executive stock options are worth mega $$$$. Diarrhea of the mind there, now that that's done. I would like to offer my sympathy to the workers and their families from the Oshawa plant. If GM doesn't I hope someone see's the value in and makes use of the skilled work force there quickly. |
