Removing scratches on trunk stripe???

Hello,

My 2013 ZL1 has a few light scratches in the black (dark charcoal gray) stripe that is on the trunk and rear spoiler. Instead of replacing the stripe, do any of you know what to use to try to buff out the scratches?

Thanks,
Andy

I tried taking pictures of the scratches but they don't show in a picture.
Looks like someone may have just sat something on the trunk and slid it off. Its not too bad. You can barely catch it with your finternail.

Just wondering what will, if anything, buff that out without ruining the stripe.

Thanks

Are you talking about the swirls ? or scratches ? they differ ... if they are swirls they are easily removable by a swirl remover product by using your hand or using a polishing machine . You could also try a viynl cleaner product that will give the stripe that shine & clean it deeply.

Its definitely a scratch, not a swirl. Looks like something was sat on it and slid off to the side because the scratch did continue into the orange paint, but I was able to buff it out of the paint with some fine rubbing compound.

Just worried to try rubbing compound on the stripe because its a decal.

You can not remove a scratch from a vinyl decal. Especially one you can catch with a fingernail.

This☝. You have to replace the stripe. I went through this last year with Parkway in Tomball Tx. The detailer wiped a rag across the trunk and scratched it from one side to the other. I had to replace the stripe. Then buffed the paint.

Stripe Scratch

Well I guess my next question to all of you is, where is the best place to get this stripe?

Dealer?

Thanks

Some surface scratches will come out with some heat. Depends how deep it is. Worth a shot.

I took delivery of my white '15 yesterday and I noticed scratches on the trunk stripe of my car during the pre-delivery inspection. The dealer told me it would have to be replaced. I opted to get a credit for the stripe and just have the whole thing removed. I was on the fence about it anyways. Hopefully the dealer won't add any new scratches next week when they take the thing off.

LOL, where were you guys earlier this year when I started a thread asking how wide the deck stripe was so I could have one painted on?

Can you explain more of this? I've got a scratch on the stripe from cleaning it one day. Something must of been in the microfiber cloth and then boom.
