IF WE HAVE A GEN 6 ZL1 WHAT HP WILL IT BE?
Ok for all of you guys who beat me up last time about a 2016 ZL1 I put the word IF in this question. Please remember that word IF. Ok, do you think if GM does release another ZL1 do you think it will be more horsepower than what is offered in another sedan {hellcat] or not? As far as that goes do you think there ever will be another sedan [full size car,not a vette or viper or anything like that] that will be more horsepower than the hellcat? I don't think ford with a factory produced mustang will or nor will chevy do a Z/28 or a ZL1 but I think they will get in the 650 ish range, I think dodge took it about as far as it can go with factory horsepower being at 707. So remember this is a question on your thoughts as to what do you think any of the car manufactures will do,will they meet or beat what is out there now?

Whatever the similar Corvette engine will yield, it will be just below that a bit in horsepower.

I think it will have the LT4...
I also think the next GT500 could very likely give up 2 cylinders and gain 2 turbos... |

I think we will see a LT4 version and it will most likely have a big price tag which is fine.
IMO as long as it's 1/4 mile times are consistent with the other brand's and it's still the more refined car that's the best of both worlds.

IF we see a sixth gen ZL1, my guess is it will have 625 horse power (LT4) and cost a whole bunch more than a fifth gen ZL1. Only time will tell.

Doesn't matter. It'll be faster than the 5th Gen in every way.

I'm not impressed with the overheating issues with the small 1.7L pullied blower on the LT4. After spending some time on the Z07 anal retentive corvette forum, I believe we have the best engine platform that GM has right now.
I've also seen Formato run 9's in his C7Z 6M with bolt ons and E-85, but Jeremy likes to try things that haven't been done before. So its a mixed bag at this point. I would love to shed 300 lbs off this ZL1. If the new ZL1 comes in under 3800 lbs and solves the heat soak issues I might be interested.

As stated before less than the premium vette at that time, likely around 615-625.

A quick search will reveal that Ford has said the next GT500 will have 750 plus hp.
I had the link and was gonna post it, but deleted it instead. |

I'd personally like to see the LS9 in it. No need to detune or anything. But the power isn't that big of a deal. It needs to be the whole package. I suspect that Chevrolet might transplant a lot of the inner workings of the 14-15 Z/28 into the ZL1 and save something for the Z/28 when it's time comes.
