A20 Radio/HVAC Connector Male Side
I have a 2014 LS and I'm looking into a custom control panel mod. I'm trying to figure out how the control panel is connected to the head unit.
I've discovered through a lot of Google searching and searching on the forums here that the female connector for the control panel is the A20 connector and in the service manual appears to be called a "18-Way F Kaizen 64 series (NA)" Reference here. Does anyone have any idea what the part number / brand of connector is for the male counterpart to this connector? And even better where I could purchase a few of the male connectors? I can't seem to find it anywhere. Thanks for any help! |

Once you have the part number, you should be able to order it from China. You can try Alibaba.com or something similar. Take the center console out to access the radio, pull it out of the dash to access the molex and if you are lucky, the part number will be imprinted on it. |

Cool, thanks a lot I'll check that out. I'm also curious how that connector connects to GMLAN. I see pin 1 and 2 say they connect to "serial data", does that mean the Hi speed CAN bus? Also pin 8 says "Local Interconnect Network 9" any chance that's SWCAN?
Thanks again for any tips! |

I'm somewhat familiar with camaro wiring after having rewired my engine bay and having to sleuth out part numbers for the various connectors and housings.
Usually, in the manuals on the same page, it will display both the male and female connectors with part numbers. If it doesn't have one, it might be something molded into the interface and not available separately. I searched mouser.com for both the original part number and the service part number (awesome site and you can often use GM part numbers to find stuff) with no luck. You might email them and see if they have more insight. It appears Yazaki might actually be the manufacturer or distributor. You might contact their customer support and see what they have to say. Sorry I couldn't help more. Have you thought of just using a different style of connector? Just cut the wires and put on new ends compatible with the new connectors you are using. |

I'm a mobile developer with a limited but quickly developing knowledge of electronics so I thought it might be fun to design an iPad app that could replace the control panel. I've seen a few people do this but they all use 3rd party apps so I figured I could build one myself. Also as far as I can tell I haven't seen an iPad install where the iPad is actually hooked into the CANBus so that things like HVAC controls and locks can be controlled from within the app.
I bought a CANBus triple and have been pouring through the GMLAN Bible in order to test out the CAN frames that are sent and received from the control panel but I figure the next testing point is to actually hook into where the control panel hooks in (the CANBus triple hooked into the OBD II). I was trying to use the same connector so I could easily swap the original control panel back in if necessary. (I'm only 1 year in to Camaro ownership so I'd love to keep the warranty valid as long as possible ) Good idea about the Yazaki customer support though, I'll try to send them an email.

You might reach out to Sound Man and see if he's interested in discussing his solutions. This guy replaces the head unit with a removable tablet, his preference is Apple but he has solutions for real tablets.
