we are comparing apple to oranges in my opinion. I have a 70 GTO with a 467 stroker that makes 611 hp and 599 ftlbs on pump gas at the crank, I also have a 2010 supercharged camaro that makes 598 rwhp and 540 rwtq so thats around 705 to 710 crank hp. My GTO is making about 100 less hp than my camaro but it wipes the stupid smile off of the camaro's face. The power of my GTO is raw, unrefined, unforgiving and instant. If you make one wrong move with it, will know when its too late lol. My camaro is no slouch, but the power delivery is so much smoother and forgiving, not to mention it almost drives itself with stabilitrak and what not. But I can drive my camaro down the highway and still get 24 mpg and my pontiac.....well mayby get 8 mpg taking it easy lol. My gto is an around town kind of car and the camaro can be driven across the country..... my two cars are both muscle cars but they both are completely different. not to mention that these new cars are so heavy with all the creature comforts and sound deadening and safety stuff, they need a lot more hp to be fast. a 1970 buick stage 1 455 gsx ran in the 12's with the worst tire you can ever imagine. you put a modern drag radial or slick on it and its low 12 to high 11s

My next car will be a 60s or 70 muscle car. Im thinking a Chevelle or a fastback Mustang. There is always the possibility of a GTO or Cuda too...

Old muscle is great....in someone elses garage. Let someone else preserve history,I prefer having fun and modern muscle lets you have your cake and eat it to. BTW most guys with older muscle respect our cars just like we respect theirs.

The 2 can not be compared . I love the old and love the new its 2 different eras .Although I was very young during the 60s early 70s muscle car era I can remember quite well every detail on my dads 66 Chevelle SS he owned up until the gas crunch of the mid 70s . One of the biggest differences between then and now are emissions regulations, with the exception of the youngest members I don't have to tell most in this forum that back in the days of leaded gasoline and todays world its an entirely different ball game.

I have always wanted a muscle car. Researched the crap out of them in the 80s when I was in high school. When it came time to buy one......I picked modern muscle over the classics because I wanted to drive it hard and not worry about breaking anything. Still would like a 440 cornet at some point.

Who came up with this Fanboy Name, Anyway? If you are into Muscle cars or Hot Rods you are either a Gear Head or Car Guy/Enthusiast. NOT a Fanboy. Fanboy must be a name thought up by Import/Ricer Guys. Not for American Muscle Car people.

Same crowd that came up with the no lift shift. Power shifting is the name.

No lift shift is different than power shifting. With no lift shift, the computer holds the rpm at the same level as when you shifted. With power shifting, when you stab the clutch the rpm goes up. If you shift without using the clutch, your trans will crap out unless you have a Jericho with straight cut gears.

These days the modern pony cars still feel planted at 150mph. No slack in the steering, no tracking. No "Float" over the bumps and potholes. Whatever you think about 60's era pony/muscle cars, They deserve respect, without them, we wouldn't have the cars we do today. |

Fanboi's are loyal to one brand, they aren't car enthusiasts. They hate on everything that they don't own or wish to own.

I don't agree completely with what you said. I am a car enthusiast, and love a discussion about any type of car, but simply choose to only own GM products if at all possible. You dont have to hate on others to be a fan of one.
