IMHO, it sounds like the Z/28 CAI is becoming a worthy and appreciated mod, very opposite to much (unwarranted) negativity when it was first introduced.

I agree. I have actually owned a Rotofab on my 12, had a CAI on my 1LE and now this, so my opinions are not based on some spreadsheets and reciting others comments I read on forums. Absolutely nothing bad to say about Rotofab, nor CAI, great products. But now, after all of the GM bankrolled R&D, there's one designed for my car that sound great, fits perfectly and looks like a beast. So now I have one designed for my car that functions perfectly. Just my opinion.

I have no comparison with any other intake but gotta say the z28 intake was ment for this car. My installer @ champion motors had never installed this intake in a gen 5 camaro and said it was the most simplest one hes installed on a camaro as if it was ment for the car. Plug and play and just enjoying stepping onto the throttle and hearing that woosh sound from that massive intake.

I got one from a forum member for a smoking deal a couple of weeks ago an finally installed it. I had to drive to the Nashville airport this past Monday and it does eek to feel a little better throttle response seems a bit crisper and you can sorta hear it. I think it's a very good bang for the buck mod. I not really happy with the PVC line install so I'm going to try and work the kinks out to either hide or reroute. With a NPP exhaust, ported TB, and 3.91s as a future project I think my ol'girl will really come alive.....

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showth...=385592&page=6 Scroll down half way to the dyno test sheets. His test showed a Z28 CAI closed hood on a Dyno performed as high and higher then all the other CAI's. Now why do you some of you feel that the factory ribbed would flow less then smooth bore. Only way the ribbed would be a limiting factor if it projected a rib into the path of the air stream which it doesn't. Also I bet the Z28 ID of the tube is bigger then the aftermarket tubing. |

Quick question. Do I have to use the oil separator kit that came with my 1LE to make the Z28 intake work?

I'll let someone more knowledgeable answer that as mine has been on from day 1. I don't believe you have to as not all LS3s have the separator. Also, thanks Chris for posting the stats.

16hp gain? that's kinda low nah? I mean, like the difference between driving alone and driving with a passenger.
I must admit, I don't feel any difference in performance when driving alone or with a passenger ... I was kinda close to pulling the trigger on a Z28 intake but ...

16rwhp for $400 is not bad in my opinion. Most competitors claim that, but most don't deliver. I too pick and choose the lightest passengers. Lol

Real world testing is great, and I'm not denying any horsepower gains, I'm saying I can't feel it. 16 HP on a 426HP car is a 3.7% power gain....that'd be a pretty sensitive butt dyno to really feel that difference. And to think anyone can feel the HP difference between the Z28 and any other intake is silly. |

I mean, no offense to the people having intakes and enjoying them, but even being a cheap mod, if it's a "useless" one, 1 dollar is already expensive nah?

I get your point, if you can't feel it, it's not worth $400. But there's nothing you can do for $400 that you'll feel HP difference anyway. No offense taken, we all have our opinions. To me, with the sound, fit/finish and feel, it's well worth it. What bothers me is people saying it's crap compared to other aftermarket intakes without having any first-hand experience with this or any other intake.
By the way, just got home from a local track. Hot day here today, but that was a lot of fun. It's these memories that help the six months go by when I put it away for the winter. Now, I have to go and wash/detail it for the next five hours.
