The LS1's were really the only under rated LS motors. I bought an A4 98 TA in 99 and dyno'd 290 rwhp (rated at 305) bone stock and ran 13.2 in the 1/4 mile.

There may not be another GT500. The ZL1 will have 640-650HP it will not eclipse the Z06.

For example the Zl1 does not have hydro power steering but other LSA cars do. Some of the newest advances in auto tech in the last 10 years have been making the accessories more efficient and thus making the car more efficient. The variable output alternator comes to mind. Also, the Hellcat's 8 speed is advertised as being below 10% power train loss and highly efficient. The LS7 was the first to SAE certified with GM. It came after the LS1/LS2 so obviously the LS1/LS2 was not SAE certified before then. (stands to reason as it is fact and proof already given in this thread) |

I wonder if GM will even produce the ZL1, since it was originally only produced in 69, which is what the Gen 5 was based on. I can see them producing a Z28, just not so sure about a ZL1.

Yep there's still tons of them sitting on dealer lots in my area. They are too expensive. And with the GT350 coming out at around 60k I believe, GM is going to be forced to drastically drop prices to get rid of these things. And if they even make a 6th gen Z28 it will have to be in the 60k range as well to even be competitive.

![]() Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 What We Know The all-new Chevrolet Camaro shares its architecture with the Cadillac ATS and CTS, which means it can, with relative ease, adapt many of the go-fast parts of the ATS-V and CTS-V. Bookending the spectrum of high-performance Camaros will be an affordable four-cylinder Camaro with suspension upgrades and at least one variant of the Camaro—which we expect to be the ZL1—that will share the CTS-V’s supercharged, 6.2-liter V-8. Why It Matters Because the new Camaro starts out so much lighter and more capable than the last one—Chevy tells us the 2016 Camaro SS turns quicker laps than a 2015 Camaro SS 1LE—we can expect ridiculous performance from the special-edition cars. With some 650 horsepower, the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 should match Challenger Hellcat performance in a straight line but turn more confidently. Potential Pitfalls A lightweight, awesome-handling Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 doesn’t leave much room for a Z/28. Moreover, some insiders think the last Z/28, priced around $70,000, was too exclusive. The closest thing to the 1960s Z/28 would actually be a tweaked version of the four-cylinder car, which promises to be the lightest and best-balanced version of the new Camaro. We expect to see such a thing but don’t think GM marketing will have the guts to call it Z/28. Instead, we suspect the next Z/28 will bundle a modified version of the base 6.2-liter V-8 with an even better suspension. Im surprised they made as many ZL1's as they did personally. The Z28 will be the undisputed leader option from here on out. Would like to see a special addition Twin turbo or a 4.0 supercharger on top of an LSX for the semi unofficial 50th anniversary...

Is there any possibility the LSA would go into the new ZL1? Is it at end of life or something?
