I do have the inTune device, and set up my speedo with it to match 305/30/19 tires' diameter. I'd not want to flash a new tune every time I switch tires, and 20" wheels would look a bit funny with the fender flares anyway.

Speaking of which, I think I might also install the mud flaps for the fronts I bought from ZL1Addons.com a long time ago:

Well, this is now taken care of! This kit should have been much cheaper than it is; just too flimsy ABS plastic pieces, but looks like it will work. They should also have included longer bolts for the factory bolt location since I could not catch the bolt thread at one of the sides no matter what.

Looking forward to Monday track day!

That would be sweet! Next time I am up in the NW maybe we can get together. Not sure when that will be, but I try to get up there at least once a year. Also I really like the way the car looks now with all the aero. The wheel gap looked off before, but the aero really completes the look. Congrats on getting everything done!

Thank you! Between the GM restrictions and kits not being available, it took a lot more time than it should. Well, it's all behind us now.

I have been working on the supercharged Miata project for the last few months while waiting for the Camaro's aero parts, and I've learned a lot about how to improve cooling. I'm now wondering if I should make a few changes on the Camaro, too:
  • Winter project idea: The coolant is not taxed at all with the larger radiator and the oil cooler not using coolant. It goes below 200 at the track when I let go of gas in a blink of an eye, and this is with 50/50 coolant/water. As a winter project, I'm wondering if I should consider adding the OEM cooler back and rerouting the aftermarket oil cooler through an oil filter sandwich. When they work together, I think I could get to have a car with cooling enough for even 100 degrees F track days!
  • I could not drive the car much this weekend due to rain (after a long run of dry days), but during my tests, I could easily see that the oil cooler does not do any serious engagement before 220 degrees F or so. It currently has a 212 degrees F thermostat, and I already have a 180 degrees F thermostat in hand. I think I should do the switch. 180 degrees F thermostat would probably stabilize around 190s at the street, and I'm sure a spirited run every once in a while would easily let the oil exceed the 212 degrees F required to get rid of contaminants anyway. The lower temp thermostat might also increase the flow.
  • I also still see a very little amount of leak from where the oil cooler adapter attaches to the engine block. Changing the thermostat would be a nice opportunity to replace the O-rings, too. I hate that we only have 2 bolts holding the adapter in place, compared with 10 bolts that surround the OEM unit.

What do you guys think? These are all minor things, but I'd love to have it perfect. I'm thinking about doing the oil cooler thermostat change today, before tomorrow's track day.

I think running the 180° thermostat would definitely be better since it'll start cooling the oil sooner. Since I live in Texas I went with the lingenfelter adapter that has no thermostat. I didn't have my aftermarket gauge installed yet for last track weekend but will before NCM so I'll know how hot it really gets then.

It was pretty much a brute-force algorithm. I ordered from every online site (with good pricing) until one of them managed to get it through. It only took me a few days; those that couldn't quickly canceled the order during the day or the next day.

I just replaced the oil cooler's thermostat to 180 degrees F version! During my relatively short test drive on the highway at night, I could not exceed 220s. When I put it on 6th gear on cruise control to cool it down, it somewhat settled around 200 degrees. I'm looking forward to seeing how it will perform tomorrow at The Ridge.

I'll finally get to drive the car with all its bells and whistles! Here is hoping everything works just fine.
