Order Submitted to GM until Delivery Time-Frame?
From other people's experiences in recent months, how long has the average time-frame been from the day the order is submitted to GM until the day the car is delivered to the dealership?
I ordered mine the middle of this month, August, and am curious to a realistic time-frame on when I should expect delivery. Over the past several months, I've heard a variety - 3 months, 4 months, 6 months, 8 months. Now that I've actually ordered it, am curious in hearing something more certain. Thanks!!! ~~2LT/RS/Stripes/Ground Effects~~ |

Does your dealer an ALLOCATION for your order ? Find out from your dealer if your order is @ 1100 or 2000. If its at 2000 that means you have an allocation and G.M. has accepted your order and your Camaro may move along rather quickly. I went to 2000 on 7/17 and my 2SS/RS was at my dealer on 8/21. Insist on a WORKBENCH copy of your order from your dealer. If your at 1100, your order is in the salesmans desk drawer and It could take a very long time.

I spoke with my dealer. He is out of the office right now but plans to check on it tomorrow. But he said he believes that they did have an allocation open. He is going to confirm for me tomorrow though. So it's possible that I may have ordered this thing this past week and receive it by October??
Thanks for the help! |

Your dealer should have been able to tell you then and there about the allocation. Doesn't sound promising. If you're at 2000 you have a decent chance of delivery by mid-October. They are starting to deliver these things a lot quicker now. Mine was at the dealership in 55 days and 17 of those it was in transit.
Hope it works out for ya.

Spoke with my dealer. He said I have been submitted to GM, however, in allocation number 7. I asked him if I had really been submitted, or if it won't be submitted until my allocation number is up. He assured me that I was submitted, but that GM has 6 orders from them to produce before mine. At least I'm not allocation number 20, however, does suck that I am number 7... wondering if I'm not going to get this thing until the end of the year. Does that make me at 1100 still though, or am I at 2000?
With that in mind, anyone out there who ordered their car in the past few months, who have gotten it already, and were at a certain allocation around 7? |

IF you are at 1100.....then you are simply "IN LINE" at your dealership to be pulled by GM whenever they get an allocation for you. You can also have The Viz check your event code status here http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=31115 . I ordered my car in early May... she is on a train in Illinois as I type. I got accepted into production by GM in late July. If that helps.

Thanks!!! My dealer told me he would look up my order number and call me some time between today and Monday with it. So as soon as I get it, I'll check on my event code status.
To be exact, he told me the following... I have been put into allocation number 7 at his dealership. Around 2 or so allocations have been going through each month. I then made it a point to ask him if that meant my order was still sitting at the dealership pending, or if GM actually had it. He said that GM has been notified of my being allocated at number 7 and they need to get through the first 6 before they get to mine. With everyone's experiences on their wait-times and deliveries, is what I was told above good news or bad news? Waiting is going to seem like an eternity! |

It sounds at least like your dealer is being partially honest- giving you your # in line and telling you they get about 2 done a month - but still - it's def not good - - I would get your order # and do as SRVFAN suggests and track it with Viz
My dealer is pulling the same BS on me - swearing they had an allocation and that the car will be in by the end of Sept - I ordered on 7/31 and I'm still at 1100 as of today - they are not getting this car in by Sept but they refuse to admit they did not have an allocation (or avoiding the whole truth on teh allocation, like it's not happening until Sept or June of 2010 for all I know). They told me 6-8 weeks and I would believe that if the order was pulled at this point, but after a month in the "no man's land" status I know it will take alot longer. Yet they still swear GM will magically pull, order parts, build and ship my car in less then a month - I think I want to live in the magic fairy land they live in b/c that is incredible... |

Yeah, I trust my dealer. It's someone my family has bought several cars from over the years. He sold for MSRP, gave me a good deal on the deposit, and I feel will likely give me a good deal on my trade (if I end up needing to do a trade-in). Another dealership I originally went to wanted $3,000 over MSRP and said they currently had no allocations to put me into. I immediately ran from there.
The one I ordered from said as of now, they are allocating about 2 cars per month, but that it could go up since GM has recently started to produce them in more bulk. He said the same thing, that it will take about 6-8 weeks to be produced and delivered once my allocation number is up. So the big thing is my hoping that I go from allocation 7 to 1 as quick as possible. But I'm guessing I have at least a 4 month wait on this....maybe before the new year. |

Well - if you can wait that long then you'll probably be set! I am so impatient it hurts...I waited a month so far and haven't gotten any honesty - if they had been upfront and told me when the allocation was for - or even how many they get a month or etc I might have chosen not to purchase from there (I guess that's why they lie!)
At least you won't have to drive in snow if you get it during the winter! A plus for having to wait that long! |

It has snowed down here around 4 times in the past 20 years... 1 of those times was last December. If I get it in 4 months, it will be December again, so we will see haha, I doubt it.
I'm pretty impatient too. For a moment, I thought having this thing in 2 months was a possibility, which got me excited. Now knowing 4 or so months is more likely kind of sucks. Hopefully they will start producing them quicker and moving allocations along faster. |
