2011 Camaro dies with wierd syptoms
First off the car....
2011 Camaro 2SS TR6060 TSP 418 stroker PRC 260cc heads COMP FI cam Hellion Twin turbo I have had the car on the road and have around 400miles on the new build. Here is the issue I ran into yesterday. Took the car for a drive yesterday and the car just died! No warning or anything so I coasted to the side of the road. Tried to start the car and it would fire but die after a couple seconds. Still have fuel pressure and there is no DTC's. The weird part is I decided to walk the few blocks back home and get my laptop. I used my fob to lock the car and it would not honk the horn. I also noticed that the headlights stopped flashing together and started flashing alternately. The driver side headlamp is much dimmer than the passengers. Brought my laptop back to the car and tried my remote again and this time like normal the horn honked and the lights flashed together. Got in the car and it fired up and ran. Tried to drive it home and it died again. At this time the security system did not function properly( no horn honk and alternate flashing lights). 20min later it started again and I got it home. SO, I feel there is some connection with the security system and the car stalling and not restarting. When it dies the horn will not sound and the lights alternate. When the car runs normal the security system functions normal. I have done my best to check all the grounds and they were all tight. Any ideas will help! Troy |

People have had odd electrical problems when the battery has dead cell(s).

I'd start with a new battery.
HERE is a link to the one I recently bought off Amazon. the've currently got a coupon for it, and after everything I paid 137.xx for it. Just be sure to click the little button to 'click coupon and save' before you order it, otherwise you'll miss out on that add'l 20% drop. Oh, one thing to note - description on amazon says 740 CCA - I can confirm that it is DEFINITELY 800 CCA - can snap a pic of my battery tonight if concerned. Here's the 'order details' showing the price. I'm in TX, so not sure how tax would affect the purchase, but either way, this is the cheapest AGM battery that I could find, and it seems to have solved my crazy issue

Did it say "service stibilitrack" on your dash panel?
Did it Have you open and close both the drivers and passenger windows? |

I'm at work as of now and I have the battery on the charger. I will see if that changes anything.
I have no DTC's and no messages on the display. Troy |

Check your fuse box. My car was having the same issues left it with a chevy dealer and had him drive it home. It stalled on him he got it restarted and knocked on the fuse box and it shut off.

Charging a battery with bad cells will not yield a positive result. Get it checked.

Going to follow up on this thread incase anybody ever does a search for something similar.
Like stated above the car would die restart and die again. At this time the headlights, horn, security system, and running lights would not work properly. Got my hands on a wiring schematic for my car. I soon discovered that the lights, horn, and security system share the same ground. This ground is located on the passenger side of the engine bay and attaches to the body. Well, it appears I did not apply enough heat protection and the turbo down pipe damaged the wires. Fixed the issue and now the car runs perfect. Hope this helps somebody down the road. Troy |
