Angry 2014 Camaro SS power steering problem

I just purchased a brand new 2014 Camaro SS in April and recently have had problems with the power steering cutting off. It has mainly happened when I turn left and it cuts off for a second leaving me with no power steering and the car trying to turn right. When it comes back on, I am then over steering to compensate! This has happened initially as a one off and now today it has happened 6 times! The message briefly appears to "service the power steering" but disappears as soon as the power comes back on leaving no fault code.
I am visiting the dealer tomorrow to see what they can find.
Has anyone else had a similar experience? This is dangerous having the electric power steering cut off and on when driving!!!!

I'd say it's dangerous! I would hope the dealer will make arrangements to have your car flat bedded for this service. I haven't heard of this happening. Hope you'll keep us posted on what the remedy is.

I'm having a similar issue at 165 miles. It doesn't cut in and out but disables the power steering and throws errors. I'll head to the dealer tomorrow morning.

This issue seems it deserves closer attention. Three or four cases of kicking a key fob, one of which resulted in minor injuries creates a widespread recall. Two people show up here with a genuine safety issue which makes me wonder how many more cases of this are we not hearing about away from C5.

Jamesmcw,

Sorry to hear about your power steering concerns. I realize how concerning that would be. Keep us posted on the results of your dealer visit. If necessary, I can contact their designated Customer Experience Manager if you have any additional questions. We'll look forward to your updates .

I drove a 2013 2SS L99 for about a year. I got the service power steering and would lose power steering. This happened about 8 times in the one year I drove the car.

Dealer could not figure it out either.

Power steering

I just had my 2011 Camaro in for service. The power steering would cut out while making a turn. The Chevy Service dept replaced the pump and fluid and charged me list price for the pump, $218.66

Your car is old school. 2011s use a belt driven pump and fluid. The OP has electric steering which is completely different. His cost will be different than yours.
