Driver Side Noise (Rattling/Clunking/Squeaking)
In the last couple of weeks, my 2010 LS has developed a progressively louder rattling/clunking/squeaking sound from the area of the front driver side wheel well. I'm not sure if it's coming from the wheel well in particular because I'm faintly feel the clunking through both the gas and brake pedals. I had my brakes serviced two weekends ago in hopes that the noise was related to that being needed. They were squealing severely and needed the work. After getting the car back, the clunking noise was still there so I asked them to look at it again a couple of days later. They said they found a heat shield that was loose and they tightened it. When I drove off I didn't hear the noise any longer and thought all was well. Then the next day, I started to hear it again and it's just gotten worse over time.
The noise is most audible/tangible when moving at low speed (5 to 10 mph) and it's seems to be the loudest when parking. It's almost as if something is swinging around in the wheel well or in the engine compartment on that side of the car. Also, it happens exclusively when the car is warm so for the first five or ten minutes of my morning drive, there's no sound but by the time I get to the office parking lot the noise is in full effect. I also hear it starting my drive home because the car is warm due to the 90+ degree temps when leave work. I've searched the forum and haven't really found any info on anything that's been close. I've read things like "bad wheel bearing" and "loose panel inside wheel well" but neither of those seem to match up to what I'm hearing or feeling. My next stop is the dealer or my local shop again for deeper investigation but I just wanted to see if anyone has experience with this situation. TIA. |
